  • What head angle is that? Looks steep, even for drop bar rigid

  • 72°

Just a sketch. Need to figure out forks offset, AC and potential toe overlap

  • That Mikkelsen is pure dream bike for me. Not least because it litteraly has my name on it.

I really like the capped tube aestethic.

  • I am considering a hidden seat clamp like the GT Flip Flop stems. It is not completely sane to do this But as it is only for myself it should be alright.

A combination of these two stems really

  • Couldn't you just put the hidden seat clamp on the front of the seat tube instead of the back? That way there is not need to make something to cover it up.

  • Can't stop looking at this. So much going on, in a good way. Think it was on The Radavist right?

  • 69 deg would be my recommendation based on established geo out there (and mountain biking with my Vaya which is 71.5). Though I'd be tempted to up the trail a bit from the 45-50mm or so that's standard for rigid 29er forks

  • Well I have the mtb for tech stuff. This is more of a monster rando. It will mostly be used in Danish forrests and gravel paths.
Loaded with a rando bag so sort of low trail is the idea. But just massive tyres/wheels

Maybe I should just listen to you. I just love lively bikes

  • Yes it is from there. Owner works for or rubs Outer shell

  • I could do that. But in this case I am going for the protruding capped tube idea.
But could be fun to do on aero roadbikes

  • For sure - up the rake to 60 mm or so and bring the trail back down to 60-65 mm. Should give you the stability that comes from longer wheelbase and slacker head angle while maintaining a quicker steering feel and front loading happiness. Theoretically.

  • Fork rake looks to be 46mm. With a 72 degree head tube that makes trail 72mm.

Ill run it without mudguards and 2.2" Conti Speed King in the summer and probably with 2.0" Conti Race King and mudguards in the winter.

  • Ah, you have the fork already? Didn't see.

I guess just stretch the top tube out and use a shorter stem to get decent handling and less toverlap then (which I find to be much more awkward offroad than it ever is on)

  • Got quite a bit further with geometry today. I'll post some sketches late. Looks more refined now but I am keeping trail around 70mm. Sort of like a cross bike.

I also did a mock up of the clamp idea.
Which I hopefully get to finish tonight.

  • Looks great :-)

  • Thanks man. I am starting to feel the urge for building a pair of forks with curved legs now. But that will have to wait.

  • i know I can ask in AQA but this thread is more appropriate for this question: what 44mm HT canti CX frames are out there? (asking for a friend)

  • ... next level !! cool !!!

  • Non available I think.
The actual time frame where inferior braking and oversized head tubes overlapped was quite small/short.
Mostly on offs from small frame builders.

But as I mentioned earlier in this thread cross frames with integrated headset will fit external EC44 headsets

  • Thanks man. I have been a bit busy lately, but I am super determined to build a frame with this technique

  • In other news...

  • Paul Milnes?

  • Yeah for example. I would just keep an eye on local second hand cross frame on Facebook.
    I got mine quite cheap.

  • Really liking the colour choice.
