  • Also

@fizzy.bleach was kind enough to send me some brake levers, but they turned out to be the wrong model. This got me back on the internet in search of the right Tektro levers.
I found some black and my low ball offer was accepted, but I also found some XLC levers that looks to be Tektro R200a rebranded.

So next step is to decide on some drillium action...

  • First option, no question.

  • Mmm. I do like longer slots, but maybe not that wide...

  • Wide looks good but I'm not sure if I'd trust those. These look more sensible, but I think two slots looks better than three.

  • I will try some stuff out with a Sharpie when I get the levers on Monday

  • First one looks like it will chop your fingers if you crash

  • Yeah. Not nice

  • My dad will test ride this as soon as we have finished our coffee and his medicine has kicked in.
I am nervous to be honest.
If it fails to work for him I'll try 650b wheels to lower the BB and extending the steerer to bring bars up further.

  • Success!

I need a pair of 650b wheels asap.
And I had to remove the pins from the pedals. They proved a bit dangerous. But other than that he is well pleased.

  • lovely build!

  • Thanks.

I have ordered him a 150mm WTB Volt to finish it off. And I need to find some 650b wheels

  • Excellent, glad it’s a success. If worried about feet slipping maybe some cut to size skateboard grip tape could help?

  • This page is both heartwarming and achingly Danishly stylish

  • Yes. That might be necessary.
    Thanks

  • 26" test. My dad thinks something in between will be good.

    27.5x2.0" it is then...

  • Ah sorry man - is this a cable-pull-related fuckup on my part?

  • Nope. It is all about the shape. The R200A are Campagnolo 10sp rip offs and look real classy. The RL340 you send me are great levers but not as elegant as the R200As...

  • I get what you mean. I used to see those Campag-shaped ones sometimes and I would wonder why mine were so fugly! I'll donate your postage to the lufguss coffers.

  • No No No

No need. I'll pass on the levers to someone needy. But thanks. I appreciate you wanting to help me out <3

  • Success!

Outstanding. The ultimate dad bike. I'm pleased that it works for him.

  • What did he dislike about the 700c wheels?

  • He is just too high up. It is a confidence thing. I reality his balance is much better on a bike than on his feet. The primate motorical skills kick in. You should have seen him. He hasn't been on a bike in a year.
Although Parkinson's makes it hard to show emotions he was smiling.
He almost fell getting off the bike because of the grip of the pedals. But if I can lower the whole bike and reduce grippiness it should be great. Only thing I wished I had thought of was making the yoke able to take a kickstand. It would have been soo easy to do and have helped him loads in loading and unloading
