Yes. But running a graphic simulation would have been enough. I have 3d prints of it to determine form.

• #1703
I see.. I was mainly suggesting it to check the tool path, not form.

That's a shame about the tool path. Not sure it helps but I'll also be mudguardless on HDIJ so you won't be the only one roosting people...

2019 UPDATE
Happy new year all. I thought I'd start the year with sharing a plan for what I need to do in 2019. Mostly for myself I guess...
I got some loose ends I need to tie up.
1. SSCX -> Disc Do It All Gravelleur Rando
Instead of machining my own dropouts I have to go with these Surly dropouts. They are fucking great so it isn't really a problem.
So I will be swapping out these and glueing on a slotted disc tabs.
Before the break I drilled holes in the frame for bottle cage bosses.
Only thing left to do is to figure out dynamo wiring and gear cable routing. I think I will run them all along the down tube as the brake cable will have to be run that way. The dynamo wire for the rear light can run next to the brake cable so it doesn't need to be run internally. And I think I will use barrel adjusters like this for the gear cables:
I want to keep the wishbone free as it looks super sweet without cables and if I am ever to race cross again on this bike I will probably do so SS and can just get rid of cables and adjusters.
Plan is to paint the frame in RAL 7048 and keep forks black. Headset will probably be a green CK and I am thinking about getting a green Edelux light to match it.
I have been able to remove ugly orange Viner logos and keep sparkle paintjob underneath so the plan is to clear coat the forks later this month.

3. Utility Bike 2
My heir is in the making as we speak and should hopefully be with us late June. This means I am leaving the country to bring her up somewhere in rural Denmark.
I need to do something to fix up my cargo bike as I am really looking forward to riding around with her...
I have just learned that Schwalbe is now doing a G-One Speed in 406x40c as well as a 650b offering which allows me to lower the bike a bit while also increasing comfort. Geometry is originally build around a 700x32c (D694mm) rear and a 451x28c (D515mm) front. Using G-Ones I can get a 584x40c (672mm) rear tyre and and a 406x40c tyre (D494mm) which means the bike will be 11-12mm lower and a lot more supple. Ideally I'd like a 50mm front tyre, but I also want low rolling resistance...Here is an old image of how it was build up:
I will redo the dropouts as I can do them a lot neater now and patch up some shitty joints. I might do a cable steering on this as I need to figure that shit out any ways and because I have some new ideas on how to do that and the kickstand also needs revisiting.
Finally I need to decide on a colour for this... Currently I am thinking Ultra Marine blue as I freaking love that colour and it might look good on this... -

4. MTB
My MTB project is on hold for the moment. Hopefully I will have time to weld it up before leaving the UK, but I also need to think about applying for a new job and get my shit together.
I have everything ready for this except wheels so it is just a matter of finding the time for it....
One thing is for sure. I definitely need more MTBin my life. I have ridden my GT Ruckus ssmtb during the Xmas holidays and it has been awesome but I could do with some gears sometimes :-)

First of all congratulations are in order! June is going to come very quickly, plenty to do before that for sure.
Bike-wise I look forward to seeing where the cargo bike is going. Didn't you make another one with cable-steering since?

Thanks!
Yes I did. And it is currently standing still. It will need some love as well. Me and Sam are talking about it and will find some time to do it during spring hopefully. I wont work on my cargo bike until I return to Denmark. The tiny person won't be able to be on the bike until 2020 I think. So I should have most of Summer 19 to sort it out.

5. Surly Disc Check
My Dad's bike is done but I need to finish the rack and trolley thing.
I will see if I can get the frame and forks off to paint tomorrow...
I need to find him some 650b wheels instead of the 700c wheels I think. The BB is too high at the moment. -

@Hulsroy any interest in baby inserts for a trailer/ cargo bike? We have both sizes so could ride from 4 weeks old with head supported and baby fast asleep, then from 9 months onwards with baby snuggled up in fleecy seat
Shout if you want them, cheap as I can as thanks for enjoying all your posts and living vicariously through you! -
• #1715
Thanks. I am most definitely interested. Could you share some photos with me?
I have been looking at different solutions for a click mount and fallen in love with Danish company Odder, but it is still early days... -

Yeesss man congrats again!
-

Ok I have one of each of these, both lightly used and always in a trailer so clean.
You’d still need some sort of webbing or hook points for the Webber new baby insert, and some rough seat shape for the baby snuggler

Lol. Corrected now. Unfortunately just one
Other than examining the tool paths, you could do a dry run in model foam, wood or some other cheap/lightweight material.
