  • First fixie / single speed

New to the biking community, and I want a fixie / single speed just for riding along the streets and going to places. Nothing above 300pounds would be the best. I'm currently looking at the vikign fx 700x and want some better suggestions, for example more colourful and cooler looking ones, and with drop bars. Thanks :)

  • Keep you eyes on the classified threads on here. You can pick up a nice fixed gear (don't call it a fixie) or single speed bike for that price. OK.

  • Alright thanks, but I want a physical shop, since I live in a boarding house and don't want big box coming through the door

  • Do you live in London?

  • Yea I am, but I'm just here for studying

  • Well if you go and meet someone to pick up the bike, it will be unboxed.

  • I know, but most of them are far away from where I live or from London, will have a look tho, thanks

  • where do you live?

  • Rochester, uk

  • There's a fast train in to London. Job done.

  • Yea, but I want a new bike instead of a second hand onen as my first one

  • Why?

  • Well I basically just heard some advice and decided on buying cheap new one

  • The advice you heard was crap.
A £300 new single speed will be rubbish. Something used on here for the same or less will be far far better.
Look around and see what's for sale on here first.

  • True, the one I'm looking at is probably also not that good https://www.cycleking.co.uk/viking-road-fixed-wheel-fixie-with-flip-flop-hub.html

  • You here from Reddit? If so then I sent you here. Honestly this is the best place to buy a bike for that budget. People here are genuine enthusiasts and anything that tries to get sold that is junk or too expensive will get called out and moderated.

  • Yea, can't find anything that meets my requirements tho, can anyone help me? Thank you

  • What are your requirements aside from colourful with drop bars?

Probably best for you to determine what size frame you need and go from there.

  • Well, not exactly colourful but just those 2 would meet my requirements. Not a professional biker

  • I think that once you've worked out what size bike you need/want it'll only be a matter of time before something in the classfields tickles your fancy.
    How tall are you?

  • True, probably going for a 56. I'm 178

  • This charge is cheaper and much nicer than the Viking you are looking at:

It's really worth just watching the classfields until something you like the look of pops up!

  • Thanks, I should really go deep on that classified forum!

  • Get a 54cm Dolan pre cursa and be done with it

  • Im waiting for his reply. Thanks for the info tho :) Is the viking really not good? In what way? Im just using it for cruising around
