Go 'Stros!

Just catching up. Good typo in the Guardian blog on Game 4:
Dozier souls the next one off. 2-2.
Looks as if the 'Stros have been going since they dropped Games 1 and 2.

• #129
Only one game away and both are home games. Go 'Stros!
-
• #130
Yeah, but since in this series the road team always wins ...
Fingers crossed that isn't the case for the next two games. :)

• #131
Well, it was the case. I wonder what would have happened without that pitching change. Greinke seems to have pitched a gem until he was pulled.
-
• #132
There seems to be a belief that 3rd time through the batting order,
most pitchers have no 'tricks' left.
Greinke, I would have thought, is one of the most tricksy pitchers going,
so I'm presuming the Astros manager A.J. Hinch,
in the most 'must win' game of the season went to the bullpen
to try and preserve the slender lead.
That went well. -

They said he might go to Cole but then he didn't, so perhaps Cole had some problem that ruled him out.
It's always a shame when the bullpen ruins a good starter outing.

Cheating in baseball? Well, that's NEVER happened before.
It's obviously fortunate that nobody cheats in cycling or in any other sports.

Now threats of hitting batters and other shenanigans:

Fabulous little series here

This is hilarious (well, as baseball goes):

Ouch. I'm completely unsuited to playing baseball, but if I'd ever played it, this is why I would have wanted to be a pitcher.
Fortunately, it only happens rarely, but still.

Ouch indeed!
Two great catches here

He was called up to pitch again on Monday with less desirable results which has sparked big discussion on the (in my opinion) ridiculous unwritten rules of baseball following the batter scoring a home run off a 3 balls no strikes pitch https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/upset-tony-la-russa-defends-unwritten-rules-calls-out-own-player-after-yermin-mercedes-3-0-home-run/

The biggest shock in that article is that Tony La Russa has come out of retirement to manage again.

Last day of the 162-game season today.
All games being played from 8pm UK time.
'162-game season' is intentional, as depending upon the results there could be several additional games to be played before the post-season can start, to sort out rankings:
