  • Hi-Viz is shit, reflective tape is great.

  • But the person who is wearing one has made a completely rational decision backed up by statistics and common sense.

    Lulz.

  • Same could be said about helmets there are always a diverse opinions in the 'experts' ...we'd all like cycle in whatever and not wear helmets..but the reality is we are not in Amsterdam..I wish we were tbh..

  • I'm not sure your common sense is that common, or sensible.

  • Same could be said about steel capped safety boots there are always a diverse opinions in the 'experts' ...we'd all like walk in whatever and not wear boots..but the reality is we are not indoors..I wish we were tbh..

  • Same could be said about paper germ barrier facemasks there are always a diverse opinions in the 'experts' ...we'd all like walk in whatever and not wear facemasks..but the reality is we are not a sterile clean room..I wish we were tbh..

  • I'm with you there my friend.

  • With hi-viz, I've never seen what the fuss was about.

  • I was once waiting on an island with those bollards when a driver mounted the kerb, hitting the bollard. Broad daylight. After I'd crossed the road I saw she was pulled over, waiting. She beckoned me over and proceeded to bollock me for hitting her car.
She was adamant that she would have noticed if she'd mounted a kerb.
    Un-fucking-believable.

  • I live in a hiz viz bubble. Protected from germs and impacts.

  • Driver clutching at straws?
    Could have..would have ..should have
That how any good factual story should start.

  • That's going to be my defense from now on. "The road appeared clear."

  • I think the A Pillar obscuring the view is the most likely here. The driver should have slowed and taken more care - it is there duty, but I often get freaked out approaching a roundabout, or other merging junction and find that our combined approach speeds mean I can't see the driver at all, because of the A Pillar front right of their windscreen. That means they probably can't see me, normally to the last moment. The increasing size of A pillars to create a safer vehicle for big collisions does not make for better driver visibility.
