My latest build.. I bought the 650b wheels for my Equilibrium disc but they didn't fit.. obvious solution.. buy a new frame to suit the wheels.. :-) .. ride is awesome on the 42mm tyres..

Any thoughts on the tyres on/off road??

They seem good.. I have only done a few miles with the wee fella on gravel fire trails.. but so far so good. I had them before and used them on the road.. I set a few PR's on road descents.. whether the extra volume gave me more confidence, but that was on a steel beater on a route I have ridden time and time again on a number of fast road bikes..

Been after a an XL CDF for ages and just won one on eBay. Not collected it yet. Please can someone recommend some mudguards and remind me of clearances? Used to have a kaffenback 2 and it was such a faf to fit mudguards around the disk brakes. Also going to start thinking about if I can get away with just a front rack for commuting. Cheers

I had blumels on mine, they are fine with the disc brakes on the rear. On the front Only a small bend required to get round the disc - that's on the aftermarket carbon fork though.

Those are 45mm guards with 32mm tyres, I've had 35's under there too.

Get PDWs and mount to mid fork eyelets to completely avoid disc issues.

Modern SKS bluemels come with stand off spacers for getting round disc calipers.

Looks absolutely fantastic. What's the clearance like, would 48mm fit comfortably?
-
• #1086
Yeah I think 47 / 48mm would fit fine.. tempted to go up to that size to try..

Picked it up last night. Super happy with it. Cheers for all the mudguard suggestions, ordering tyres and bits like that for it today.
I'll add some better pictures.
Do I need to run a bolt in the fork rack eyelet (if I'm not running mudguards hooked up here) to stop this oxidation/rust in that eyelet? Cheers

I'm guessing this would be OK in the dry but too close for mud clearance? Not tried. I had 700c 37mm measured tyres in and got the mud rub.

Can't hurt. Maybe some wd40 in first and then add a good dab of grease on the bolt that goes in there.

The standoffs are in pic 3, for my money the easiest option. No idea how people bend stays correctly but I guess they have their methods.

Was messing with cassettes tonight so had my wheels out.. so stuck in a set of 26" wheels and 2.25 tyres out of the wee fellas bike.. pretty awesome looking but slightly too tight at the back.. for anyone interested. BB height with 700c was 285mm, 650b was 280mn and 26" 270mm..

I just used a longer m4 bolt and spaced it out. No bending required.

What’s the biggest person you could fit on a 56cm day one? Very cheap on for sale near me

https://henrycourse.com/2018/04/04/the-start-of-something-beautiful/ - SKS Chromeos on a 2012 cdf with pics if that's any use. Edit: Basically lightly bent the stays and used some spacers, works great front and rear.

6’ give or take. More of you don’t mind more seat post / raised stem?

Took me twice as long as it should have but it was super easy to fit the SKS bluemels to my CDF. Thanks for the recommendations. £7 Vittoria tyres from PX too. Need to adjust the front guard and trim the stays. Don't think my pliers will cut it
Front rack next and a new saddle!

cheers. nice to hear about the origins.
it's lovely to ride, i have put hyper voyagers for city riding and it feels great, fast enough and quite agile . hoping to find an extra pair of wheels to go graveling with it, debating 700c or 650b at the moment.
