Looks even sweeter in the flesh

Thanks! It's right mix of sturdy and fun.

After a year of procrastinating I finally finished this... A bit dated, I know, but still worth documenting before I ruin it fitting rack and mudguards😂

SPAM ALERT: My Volare 853 is still for sale. I have amended the ad a bit, and I'll consider a swap for deep sections wheels or another frameset in 55/56.

Took my Day One out for a couple of laps round Richmond Park, which was very agreeable.
Came across a chap very kindly drafting a Royal Parks Defender about 30cm off his back bumper... which is obviously a super smart thing to do 🤦♂️

My CDF is currently carrying me from Vancouver to San Fran over the course of 17 days.
2 days and about 130 miles in, it’s been very wet so far, wish I had full rear guard but was a bit tight with the 42c. Weather set to improve from tomorrow.

New to the club
side note - do I need to have the head tube faced before fitting headset? not had an external headset bike for a while

I love that colour - dunno about headset facing, Ive never bothered because I'm lazy & impatient, but in theory a new frame probably should have the faces cleaned up before you build it up, enjoy!

Also while I'm here - anyone know the max tyre clearance on the 2013-ish 29er High Latitudes?
Going to check one out locally as a cheap MTB runabout & already wondering how I can tart it up a bit

Picked me up a Tour De Fer. Fantastic ride. Swapped the fenders over for some VO hammered ones, swift Paloma on the front for day trips. Such a smooth ride.
Quite tempted to get some tan walls though, maybe in the spring.

Current iteration of my CdF - winter gravel mode, with successful coke bottle tubeless inflator to get the gravel kings on.

Looking good. Gravelkings are a bugger to get on tubeless, have struggled with several pairs, but do love em once they're on.

What a day it was - definitely investing in an air shot for next time
-
• #1046
Last time I fitted a pair it took about 3hrs, 1 1/2hr to get em on, another 1 1/2hr to inflate em with a track pump. Still, some of my favourite tyres.

Any Vagabond owners here? How big tyre can you fit with mudguards, together with 2x drivetrain and side swing front mech?
-
• #1048
looks great, especially covered in a layer of filth!
i successfully 'ghetto tubelessed' the same tyres onto the charge grinduro you sold me with a track pump.
unfortunately they went flat after i let it sit unused for a couple of months, and now i can't get the front set up again.
do you have to clear out all of the dried up tubeless gunk before re-seating a tyre?
i foolishly thought it was going to be a 5 min job to pop some new sealant in and re-inflate...apparently not! -

Need to add some dirt to this. Hasn't been out of the house yet.

No idea - still don’t understand how a single layer of thin tape makes inflating tubeless go from impossible to a doddle
This is my only bike now (bar the mountain bike) and it's alright.
I have guards to put on It, someday.
