  • Or custom steel stem...

    What size is the steerer?

  • Custom you say……..

1.56” steerer, hence the issues in finding one.

  • Making a steel stem tthat fits 39.6mm steerer is definitely doable. Other option is finding a 1.5" stem and reaming it to 1.56"?

  • See, as I’m not well versed in machining I didn’t even think of that.

    I guess that’s possible?

  • Yes for sure.

  • Nice, I’ll keep that as an option.

In the meantime ordered a 110mm stem, figuring that slightly too long probs better than way too short.

Also spent the am cleaning and polishing the frame then doing what I could In the build.

GRX 400 with a 11-42 cassette, use seatpost (thanks @Turkish) with a Romin Evo and then some TRP CX9’s

    Itching to get this finished

  • And done.

Some gentle persuasion with the B Limit screw to make the RD reach the 42, but it works.

Looking at options to get the headshok looked it, bottoms out super easy and no lock out.

    :(

Does it have an air valve under the crown?

  • nice !
shallower silver rims would be more to my taste, but that's a very satisfying build

  • Great build.

  • It does not, but have a hook up from an FB group to get it looked at.

  • Cheers bud.
And Same, found these basically unused to 60, so couldn’t really say no….

  • Good luck :)

  • Love the frame and the build, especially the HED-ish wheels ♥️

  • Houston we have a clearance problem.

Side lugs of the Rutlands jibbed right through the protective tape after one short ride. 2mm clearance it seems on one side, and only a tad more on the other.

Gonna try tyres with less or zero side lugs before I drop down a size to 35/36c

  • Here's a pic with 36.5mm FMB Sprint, 4mm clearance all around.

Clearance on these is regrettable, the red '98 fits a knobbly 43mm.

    Great looking build btw.

  • Yeah, I’m really struggling on this one, I wonder if they reduced the clearance for the road warrior as I measure it at 40mm max and 38s are def an issue.

Gone to 35c gravelling semi slick for the moment, although your pics are making me want to try the 38c aventura that I have.

  • Tried both the 35 and 38 on the rear this eve. the 38 just look better, more in proportion with the frame, but I’m unsure about the clearance.

  • Apart from the continuing tyre trials, another little update, GRX810 cranks on a bargain FB marketplace pickup

  • Full factory in bath is still doing services on these if don’t have any luck.

  • Crank is a pleasing upgrade

Which tire size on this pic?

  • 38c, but they don't clear on the rear. only 1-1.5mm each side and rubs on every ride.

Picked up some 35c Terra Speed instead.
