no, in fact my day job is in I.T. Ive always enjoyed creating and fixing things. Used fiberglass a fair bit including making a few disc wheels. Always repair my Tubs and tubes etc. I recently cracked the seat clamp area of my race bike and when it came back from a so called carbon repair expert i was disappointed with the repair work believing i could do better. Ive since fixed 2 broken Hed 3 wheels for other people and a friend needs a patch on a flight damaged disc wheel after competing abroad so that will be next when he drops it off this weekend. This frame was obtained from the person that stripped what was good off the frame for the owner - it was destined for the bin, i merely asked it i could have it to practice on.

Can I ask how you formed the outer layers? Did you use a vacuum bag or something, looks very tidy

yeeeee, could not for the life of me remember the name of this thread!!
If anyone has an ir/un/ex?? repairable something that is mostly painted (stems, cranks maybe bits of frame etc etc) I would love it.
Doing paint/adhesions test and the like.

i painted it in one of the newish Ford colours, stealth grey.
well ive now done the best part of a thousand miles on the bike, i was almost cocky enough to race it in the ERRL but decided against it. Ive since repaired another frame... more to come.

unfortunately i distorted the weave quite a bit on the top layer with the pressure, not such an issue if its painted and nobody can see ;) Its easier to span large areas than use small cuts of weave for sure.
