If they then use the money to help Grenfell that seems sensible.
-
• #253
Donations for Grenfell sold then given back as cash?
Possibly but doesn't make sense

If they have a surplus of something, what else can they do with it?
They may be profiteering from it, but equally it may be legit.

• #255
Are we defining any charity selling something that was donated as 'profiteering' now? Would 'fundraising' not be a much more appropriate term?

What's the source of this? Is it actually true?

They're not expected to stockpile every little thing until they find a use for it are they.
What's their alternative? Stuff they don't need they just donate to some other charity?
I imagine there's rules against that, as donors would them be indirectly giving to charities they may not have wanted to.

Does that refer to this?

He's referring to fraud that happened years ago, and was uncovered in 2015, so nothing to do with Grenfell.
As I understand it, British Red Cross shops are selling items donated for Grenfell because they have more than they can give to the former residents by a factor of several hundred. They are ring-fencing the money from sales of those goods to be donated to the Grenfell fund.
Not much of a scandal...

Grenfell fund.
That must be fun to administer

None whatsoever. A warehouse full of unused furniture helps no-one. Better convert it to cash and put that money to good use.

seems to be a hot take put about by the soulless ghouls who subscribe to the "see where your acts of lefty kindness get you? serves you right for not being a horrible cunt like me" mindset, many of whom i suspect are gaslighting for the tory party.

That is depressing reading. What is wrong with people.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/Grenfell_21st_floor from the BBC is pretty hard going.
It's good work (from what I've managed to get through), and it should be hard, that it is in no way a criticism of it, more a warning to be prepared for it. I've just tried to read it at work, and had to give up. I'm planning on going over it again at home this evening.
