I have one and like it enough. It is "the beater bike" so mostly used for shopping etc but I wouldn't hesitate to take it out on some bridalpaths etc. The main thing is to make sure the rear brake is canti studs rather than the weird U brake thingies. Cantis can be swapped for Vs easily as I understand it but the weird u brake thing is a bit meh.
Looked sportier without the rear rack but cramming all my shopping in the front was feeling sketchy...

@Belagerent , how does the bike perform offroad with these bars?

In case anyone is on the look for a vintage frameset: I'm currently re-organizing the stable and these won't be built up so are for grabs.
GT Karakoram: complete bike (with original flipflop stem, without re-issue Panaracer Smoke tyres)
GT Avalanche: frame, forks, stem, bars, BB and LX crankset
Muddy Fox Seeker: frameset (not the one on the photo, this is picked from the internet)
Scott Sandoa: frameset or complete bike
Scott Boulder: frameset (frame, forks, headset, stem, seatpost, rear U brake)Just drop me a line when interested and I will send pics. Not planning on putting them in the classsifieds section.

Looks sick in black! Crankset is og? Did you put a headless stem quill?

Scott looks nice.
I'm guessing that's a 17" frame which is too small for me, sadly.

Can't say i've taken it for anything super punishing, I'm more a cruiser, but has been OK for me. I'm used to drop bars though, rather than super wide hooligan bars.

Thanks! The paintjob is actually this crazy purple black splatter thing. I touched it up here and there but would never give it a respray. Crankset was a White Industries one I found on the bay and bought without considering how hard it would be to find chainrings for because of it's weird BCD. I kind of like them now that I found a chainring but I was considering flipping them and just getting something normal.
Re the headset I think this is a later model because it had threadless stem as standard. I bought the cheapest headset I could find and hammered it in.

Reminder that if anyone wants to build up one of those frames, I'm splitting a Scott Octane. You're welcome to buy the whole thing and just switch all the parts over.

Or they can buy one of the boxes jammed with vintage parts from my attic. ;-)

Nooooooooo! Buy my junk!

If they want junk, I'm out. 😁

No junk here either (apart from the cracked frame). A rather nice mix of late 90s LX, XT, Avid and Mavic up for grabs.

Whoa dude !!

I'd recommend you keep those pedals! And if you want 1x, I've found that a clutch mech is worth it to avoid chain drop.

Hold on, those tyres - are they some mad OEM thing or have they been (beautifully) painted by an artiste of the highest order?
Another Ebay purchase.
