can you lot stop bickering and tell me which clamps are forum/tester approved

• #1304
Have seat clamps become the new bottle cages?
-
• #1305
No we just haven't gotten to that bit yet. Fun awaits

I'm going to move my Thomson stem and seat in over from the Trainbiek.
They, appear to me at least, to be hard wearing and as this is going to be a work bike and get knocked about, I see no reason to change them. They have survived multiple smashes, shoddy treatment and my general fat handed twattyness with aplomb for the past two and a bit years, with out complaint.
Also the top of the seat pin clamp is already drilled for the rear dynamo light routing, up through the rail clamp plate and out to the rear of the saddle.
Never had a seat clamp from them, just used a generic black job, that i think is a pro one. I did have to swap the bolt though, as it was originally made of cheese.

You not breaking stuff is a good advert. I can see in theory Thomson stuff is weaker than a similar cast part, however I just don't think it's an issue for collars. I did enjoy when they got so sick of people snapping the faceplates on the stems by over tightening they moved over to smaller bolts, only for people to moan when they'd rounded out said smaller bolts after over torqueing them

Can we discuss X2 stem interface and 3mm hex bolts?
-
• #1317
Shall we assume you are going to take an amusing left field/niche position on it?
-
• #1318
They are shit.
-
• #1319
Oh. We agree. That's boring...
-
• #1320
Haha!
Its a bit annoying because not all multi tools have one but I do enjoy Zipps with torx bolts. Feels a bit more exotic.
-
• #1321
Again, I haven't had any problems with them, I haven't even rounded them and I like to snap a bolt....
fiddly yes, but not as much as a pain in the arse as the hex bolts on a Zipp SC stem I have.

Like French cars
-
• #1323
Exotic because neither contain engines?
Hope is more ugly than Thomson imo
