Based on the current evidence, we conclude that to maximize anabolism one should consume protein at a target intake of 0.4 g/kg/meal across a minimum of four meals in order to reach a minimum of 1.6 g/kg/day. Using the upper daily intake of 2.2 g/kg/day reported in the literature spread out over the same four meals would necessitate a maximum of 0.55 g/kg/meal.
Fucking HUEL still a thing though. Pukes.

Relatively modern study on protein for muscle-building, referencing the 0.4g/kg/meal as a minimum across 4 meals with the upper being 0.55g/kg/meal.

Other research has findings such as 40 grams of protein post-workout is more effective than 20 grams, regardless of your size, so it can be assumed that a Huel black shake with 40g of protein and 400 calories will support muscle growth better than a Huel ready to drink shake with 22g of protein and 400 calories.

Too slow. Must be all that protein your body is trying to synthesize :D

It took longer typing because of the gout I developed eating too much protein

I'm only fast because I live on energy drinks and yet I'm too lazy to move away from the computer.

Thanks, that’s all very interesting. I knew the 20g for all body types / metabolisms must be wrong.

I don't know what I had this morning but it was gross. The Mango juice one is my goto unless I'm riding in which case it's the green one.

Still not finding much of the ready made stuff in the shops, but thanks for the heads up on other locations.
Has the price gone up too? Recently been paying £3 a pop in co-op, but noticed the price has gone up to £3.85 behind the out of stock label!

Yeah the powder has gone up in price. Lots of people moaning online that they must be spending too much on advertising lol.
But at £1.60ish for 2 scoops of Huel Black, it’s definitely not mega cheap, and I’m undeniably paying for the convenience at this stage.

I’ve got two bags of unflavoured and unsweetened black edition that I don’t want anymore. Good for blending with banana/frozen berries. £10 each, collection in/near N16

Just saw an IG ad for Huel Greens. Obviously an alt to AG1. Still pricey (well too pricey for me), but it got me looking at cheaper versions (often with more basic ingredients) from the big protein brands (Bulk etc). Is it all just snake oil?

It's interesting that Huel have been quite open that if you already have two portions of Huel a day there is no need for their new Greens product in terms of daily RDAs. I've been using the PHD Nutrition Super Greens for a while, can't really say if it has made a difference... Going to try the Huel one to see if it makes any difference to PHD, will probably go back to PHD.

Back on the Huel since 2021 to curb the accumulated COVID kilo's that got exacerbated by injury induced restriction to practice sports.
I don't know what they changed in the newest powder formula but the previous biggest drawback of gag inducing flatulence has completely disappeared.
A bit miffed they got rid of the flavour powders though because it gave you the opportunity to cater flavour to taste. And the flavoured powders are way to strong. Now on 2 scoops of the normal, half of the flavoured one to get an acceptable result.
Also on the hot and savoury stuff. Same thing, way too strong a taste. Resorted to one scoop stuff, one scoop of pre cooked brown rice with broth to cater to my tastes (and wallet).
Tl;dr CSB, which I do feel a bit like a gym bro lugging that drinking bottle around. Which they also improved btw. -

Madness, I'm whacking sriracha in all of mine, slightly less in the Madras as it's got an actual hint of chilli.

Mind you I am continental, so may have more refined tastes then you island lot..;)
Although the money aspect also helps. It is quite expensive for what it is. -

Umm...probably

I only really have access to a kettle and a microwave at my workshop, so it does the job for lunch more cheaply than Greggs, and is definitely better for me. My tastes are very refined btw, refined to know that almost everything is better with hot sauce.

Thanks! I've ordered with your code
I had a 1.6kg roast chicken to myself for lunch the other day.
About 200g of protein in one sitting, stayed awake for an hour, then had a necessary 2 hour meat snooze.
I'd like to think a bit more than 20g of the protein was absorbed over the many hours I spent digesting. (about 10g protein absorption per hour)
