So, as it was payday yesterday, before I went out to celebrate my birthday after work with friends and colleagues I managed to jump online and order a number of parts for the build. I am currently a little hungover (and still in bed) so will just post links to the new purchases rather than posting the pictures.
FOR THOSE PEOPLE NOT KEEPING SCORE, HERE IS WHAT I HAVE ALREADY ORDERED:
1985 Gazelle Champion Mondial AA Special frame
Deda RS 01 seat post
3ttt quill stemHERE IS WHAT I ORDERED YESTERDAY:
Deda flat handlebar - not too big, not too small, will fit perfectly with the stem I bought and will match the seatpost (which is just a happy accident)
https://www.evanscycles.com/deda-dritto-silver-flat-handlebar-EV213232Campagnolo Veloce Brakes (silver) - good looks, good reviews
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/campagnolo-veloce-brakeset-dual-pivot/rp-prod58071MKS Sylvan Touring pedals - a nice vintagey look
https://www.evanscycles.com/mks-sylvan-touring-pedals-00102771Shimano BL-R550 brake levers for flat handlebars (silver) - these will fit perfectly on the Deda flat handlebars
https://www.evanscycles.com/shimano-bl-r550-brake-levers-for-flat-handlebars-EV173756Challenge Strade Tyres - great looking tyres that will probably be a pain to keep clean, but so-be-it
https://www.evanscycles.com/challenge-strada-open-road-700c-tyre-EV242108Vintage Gazelle handlebar plugs
And now comes the waiting game, from now until when everything I've ordered is actually delivered.
STILL HAVE TO ORDER:
A saddle (I am thinking I may get a vintage leather one)Freewheel (either 16t or 17t depending on which chainset I get)
Chainset (either 48t or 49t depending on which brand I go for. Top contenders are currently the Miche Primato Advanced or the Campagnolo Pista)
Chain - will order at the same time I order the freewheel and chainset.

Forgot to mention, am VERY happy that the brake calipers were the last silver ones in stock from that particular website. Great price too.
Also, just bought a vintage Selle Italia Bernard Hinault saddle. Will be full steam ahead with the build once everything arrives! 😊😎

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me why it comes up as "user76364" when I comment using my phone rather than on my laptop? Very strange

Personally think a bar with a bit of sweep and rise might look better, but this looks like it's gonna be good :D

Seems a shame to get such a budget stock/cheapo wheelset for the nice frame and other parts you've gone for. Even the tyres deserve better.
I'm guessing the frame is 126mm? If you are only going single speed you can convert pretty much any set of 126mm road wheels to single speed with a simple kit, or just buy spacers separately and choose a cog size. Or just squeeze 130mm hubs in there.
If you want budget purpose built 120mm track wheels you can get some hand built ones from Varno for about the same price:
http://v-sprint.com/product/carbon-alloy-wheels/track-wheels/custom-hand-built-miche-track-wheels-2/Or put up an ad on here in 'Wanteds'...?

Hi Philbythesea,
The frame is 126mm. I am aware that I could have got a spacer kit and converted some wheels, however I decided against that option for two reasons: 1- budget, 2- I'm not a fan of how those kits look.
At some point in the future I may get some bespoke wheels made. All depends on budget and whether or not the route I take to work calls for anything more than the wheels I already ordered.
I have been a member of the forum for less than a week, so do not know who Varno is, but I will check out those links you posted. Thanks :)

Good luck with the build, interested to see how this turns out.

Thanks.
Just got an emsil that the frame has been shipped. Shouldn't take too long to get here from Holland (I hope. Fingers crossed! Lol)

Just got home from visiting my local Evans as I had a message that my handlebar, brake levers, tyres, pedals and freewheel were all ready to collect. And I managed to avoid getting caught in the rain. Good times!

Ooo, lookie what just arrived! They look awesome (photos really not doing them justice) and feel quite light. Ultimately, time will tell once the build is done, but I'm happy, they're gonna look amazing once i put the tyres on and I'm feeling so excited to put the whole bike together.
Little bit annoyed that I missed the Fedex delivery of the frame today cos I was at work, but arranged for redelivery tomorrow to be left with my neighbour. Fingers crossed all goes well.

Busy day. Varieity of email messages telling me that various things have been delivered and left with my neighbour.
Waiting for me when I get home will be the frame, the chain, brake calipers and inner tubes. Hopefully tomorrow the seat post, stem, crankset and bell will arrive.

THE FRAME IS HERE!! And so are all the parts I ordered with the exception of the chain and quill stem (hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow). Only annoying thing, there are no bottom bracket screws! Thought the guy who sold the frame would include them (as the frame came with a Campagnolo Record bottom bracket). So, if you'll all excuse me I need to go post a Wanted ad in the classified section.

• #47
What do you mean by bottom bracket screws? The cups that screw into the bottom bracket shell part of the frame?
-
• #48
Crank bolts?
-
• #49
If you mean crank bolts @Knoxi, PM me your address and i'll pop some in the post gratis.

Hi AlexD. I do mean crank bolts and that's really kind of you. PM coming your way.
To everyone else, sorry for my poor terminology use. It was late and I am suffering from food poisioning. Brain not work too good.
Hey greeno, The stem I bought has a 26mm clamp which fits perfectly (I hope) the deda flat handlebar I just bought. Lots of photos of parts I bought today (because it's payday) to follow tomorrow
