Hugh Muir agrees:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jun/22/boris-johnson-interview-disaster-diane-abbott
I think the only meaningful difference is that Abbott's interview was during the election campaign and Johnson's wasn't, which I think should be mentioned in there, but there's certainly no question about the basic problem.

Fair to reflect on the difference. I think one additional point is that she was hoping to retain her seat as an MP and maybe become a minister. He is a minister. His should matter more.

That Bojo interview is mental.
-
• #4106
Although another point is that when Corbyn (white, middle class male) gave a bad interview on Women's Hour that also made front page news. There probably is an element of race and misogyny (although I remember very little in the way of misogyny with regard to Theresa May during the campaign) but the most obvious denominator is party politics.

• #4107
Is anyone surprised at how disinterested BoJo is when it comes to equality issues?
That said, there was so little in the queens speech that it's pretty lazy of him not to have a general gist of what's in it.
-
• #4108
It's foolish if you think driving the "racist" wedge into political discourse in 2017 is wise.
Just fucking don't.

Ma'am just said her government are going to 'further tackle' things.
Policy probably isn't anything more than a post-it note, so Boris is left to do what he does best and bluff.

I hope she does it 'smoothly' and will get the 'best possible result' with her crack team of negotiators and Foreign Secre... oh.

I always loved Blair being depicted as a rabid poodle. It's cruel, it's harsh

Cheers for posting, I'd missed this.
It shows total contempt for the laws protecting privacy and democracy. And they want government regulated internet.
No.
No fucking way.

This will just be the price of doing business to the Tory scum. they'll drag there feet over providing any information and in 18 months time they'll pay an 80k fine.
-
• #4120
Am I missing something ?
Surely this undermines everything our democracy is supposed to stand for. I am not surprised, but to be so blatant surely people should be jailed for this! -
• #4121
Most of it is just electoral law so there'll pay a fine(big deal) however if they have been call people on the telephone preference list to pedal there bullshit there could be some jail time, I believe. also they appear to have lying about who there calling from and gathering personal information. I would think there just pay a fine.

I'd love to know if any of the people responsible for the Grenfell disaster had donated to the Conservative party.
-
• #4123
What kind of connection/implication are you imagining?
-
• #4124
That the kind of people who are responsible for this would help support a party that blocked legislation to improve rental properties.
-
• #4125
Developers making donations for contracts, that kind of thing...
he's lucky he's not a working class black woman, otherwise his interview technique and suitability for a role on the front bench would be top of the news agenda for the next three days.
