  • Agreed. I wasn't posting it for it's journalistic content, but more the point it raised; which I felt was valid.
It was a bit much, but the main point, that we do generally have a right wing bias media is fair. We all saw yesterdays Daily Mail!

  • And john humphreys is angry possibly senile old berk down at the country club. He's a fucking abysmal interviewer.

  • Maybe Labour are trying to force the Tories into a terrible Brexit or revoking article 50?

  • Whatever happens, if Corbyn and Labour are not definitive and unwavering in their position they're gonna be made to look like the baddies.

    Already, the rhetoric is confusing.

  • Indeed. The level of support for May among the right-wing (i.e. most) media is ridiculous given her constant U turns, dreadful interview technique and many other failings.

And for the record men in pubs sometimes speak sense!

  • Populism only works if you're popular.

    Nailed it.

  • Yeah, TM, you won't join the debates but you're still posting here! :)

  • For an impartial news organisation, there's been some strange political reporting from the BBC. There was Laura Kussenberg who was seemingly the mouthpiece of the PLP during the #chickencoup.

Perhaps more importantly, the BBC gave Farrage a platform a few years back at a time when he had no MPs and a tiny vote share. If it wasn't for the publicity that the BBC gave him, I don't think we would have had Brexit.

  • the BBC gave Farrage a platform a few years back at a time when he had no MPs and a tiny vote share.

    this hasn't changed.

  • Indeed. Why the fuck "Man never elected as MP not to run in Election" is news I have no idea.

  • Lib Dem campaigner at our train station this morning, opening the door for everyone and cheerily handing out flyers.
Little things like this might actually help.

  • It was the fault of the three main parties,
who never took the Euro elections seriously after the Greens won 15%(?) in the late '80s.

All three accepted low turnouts as inevitable allowing the kipper rabble to gain representation and then use their EU funding to keep their nationalist agenda heard at home.

  • Huh. Interesting. This is a theory I'd not heard before. By ignoring the EU elections, the major parties allowed a marginal party the opportunity to legitimize itself (and siphon off funds).

There is so much the UK fucked up in regard to its relationship with the EU.

  • Well, UKIP did get as many votes as the SNP and Lib Dems combined.

  • the greens have 100 % more seats than ukip. i don't see la lucas being solicited for her opinion three times a day.

  • Scotland has a different voting system. They use proportional representation and it's also an area with fewer inhabitants compared to England. So it's not a like-for-like comparison.

UKIP should have gotten in though, I don't like it that smaller parties have no chance, but that's FPTP for you.

  • Well the Greens have more seats as of a month ago. Over 12% of the voting public voted for UKIP, the Lib Dems got 8%, it would be nice to ignore the party as bellends but the BBC should at least try to be representative of the way the votes went.

  • Then the question is "should TV time be based on seats" or "based on votes"

  • Yewtree convictions
