It's a pista bb but how can I tell what size I should be using?
How do you know it's too long?
-
• #28
has to say that. 68-P-120 meaning 68mm bb shell width, pista, 120mm rear spacing. axle should be 109mm long.

Ignore me, just checked and it appears that the 120 is referring the the rear wheel spacing, not axle length.
Generally the bb length you need is determined by the cranks you are using. If you use the incorrect axle length it can cause chainline issues. I believe yours is 109mm which means it is perfect for running Campag Record Pista cranks.

Yeah I did panic for a second. I'm sure i had checked it.
Where can i look again for future reference?
P.S still lo0king for cranks!

Hey guys what campagnolo seat post would you recommend for this bike it takes a 27.2?
-
• #32
Chorus titanium. Record is fragile.

More period stuff 1980's ish. Plus that's realllllyyyy expensive!

The chap currently selling the Cinelli Laser pista on here is also selling a lovely unfluted Campag crankset (on another site). What year is the frame by the way?
-
• #35
Please do NOT respray this frame. It's such a nice frame, I've seen it on Ebay as well. Respraying it will completely kill all its charm and history and make it look like every other butt-ugly "restored" frame with new fake decals. The chemical composition of paintcoats is different these days compared to the 80s, and you see that immediately if you have a good eye for that. Also, the "S" decal on that frame is really cool and special.
wildwest should be banned from the forum for making these suggestions.

Dont worry I would never actually do that. I love the S and the colour. I was only asking him because i was curious.
On another note I need some box section rims!

Get some NOS Omegas from http://defietsenmaker.nl/index.php?item=&action=page&group_id=10000077&lang=EN or campyoldy
-
• #38
How do those rims compare the the TB14 and other campagnolo rims?
-
• #39
Omega 19 is the most classic box section you can get, besides Mavic Ma40. They all are hard anodizes, they all roll nicely, more or less the same.
defietsenmaker also has some super shiny NOS DP18 rims in stock, they would look really cool too: http://defietsenmaker.nl/index.php?item=rigida-silver-polished-clincher-rims-32-holes-_-700c&action=article&group_id=10000077&aid=4015&lang=EN

They would be nice and at least i wouldn't get obvious front rim breaking wear..

Thinking these?
Any thoughts or other ideas maybe a bit too modern.

with the campy pista track hubs ?
-
• #43
Personally I think the NISI Mixer is the nicest box section clincher rim out there
-
• #44
I'd love them but I have 36hole hubs!
-
• #45
Should I drill these forks?
Also looking for a campagnolo pista headset or similar.
-
• #46
Yeah but what type of thread fork? carbon chrome?
-
• #47
carbon OR chrome
-
• #48
Thinking these, would that be a bad idea laced to campy pista hubs? I quite like them..
-
• #49
Just went to try out the bottom bracket and this has happened looks like there's far to much thread. I know the one side is t tightened fully (don't have tool) however it looks like there is too much thread on one side!

That's not issue..
I'm asking whether the amount of thread on the other side is normal.
Is that be the right one for pista stuff? Axle appears to say 120 which suggests it's too long
