  • Looks good to me!

  • I'm in. Even considering riding out...If not looks like train from Liverpool street at 19:11 which gets in at 19:34. Lots of trains going the other way later on too.

  • Disappointed to be missing this one. I forgot I have a colleague's leaving booze-up tomorrow. It's a good ride.

  • It's a good ride..

    It is indeed.

    That pub tho...

  • I have about a 10% chance of getting out of work in time for this.. :(

  • BATE Borisov.

  • I also have a colleague's leaving do tomorrow but I'm going to have to give it a miss and do the ride instead

  • Trying to gauge the interest for an idea I have. There's a 100 km audax (named The Tasty Cheddar, which bodes well in my opinion) starting from Pill, near Bristol. It starts at 9am on Saturday 28 October. Who would be keen for a London to Pill 200 overnighter (probably nicking the London to Bath route), then ride the audax? You may also take the train back to London directly but that would be missing on half of the fun (well, one third).

  • Good work @rhowe. 'fraid I'm out tho.

  • Sounds like the cheese sandwich went down well. By my reckoning it's an on week this week, anyone got any preferences?

  • We could try the idea from Coulsdon I was mentioning the other day?

Nobody keen on an overnighter to Pill on Friday then I take it?

  • So for Thursday, something like this?

If you're keen there's a nice pub in Turners Hill a bit further South, would make a 40 miles loop (It's 32 as of now)

Trains from Victoria or London Bridge, last return train at 22:45 (to Victoria) or 23:48 (to London Bridge)

  • I'd trust a fellow TNRCer's recommendation. Has this been tested though? Not just Google's "interesting cycle route option"?

  • Nice looking route, good length and nice amount of climbing (perhaps a bit too much for me in my current level but fine for everyone else I'm sure).

  • I'd trust a fellow TNRCer's recommendation. Has this been tested though? Not just Google's "interesting cycle route option"?

Yeah, I'd usually suggest doing a daylight recce first. I think @cgg has ridden it and I'd trust his judgement on how it will ride at night.

  • I've ridden the first half (until Burstow) numerous times at night and day so I know it's good (climbing-wise too). Second half is a bit more of a gamble. What's the worse that could possibly happen?

  • That's my local area down that way, so can confirm is a good route. Flowers lane / Gangers hill takes a bit of climbing, but all good stuff.

There must be a ropey boozer in Coulsdon somewhere?

  • Besides it will a full-moon night! 🐺

I toyed with this route idea the first time a while ago and the presence of a pub at the end was of course one of the firsts thing I checked. The route will be duly fine-tuned to make sure we pass by one at the end (and/or we can do the extended version stopping in the one in Turners Hill...)

  • Though instead of Burntwood Lane at the end, going via Salmons Lane / Stites Hill Road is nicer.

  • Thanks! Any tips appreciated :)

  • Sadly I can't make this week. However, route look excellent. Can you post the extended version to Turners Hill? Sounds perfect for a quick weekend ride.

  • Can we get that route in something that non Strava users can view?

    I'm, ummmm, interested...

  • Ah that's sad :(

Here's the route going to the pub: https://www.strava.com/routes/10783670

  • It's public, you should be able to see it even if not logged into strava?

edit - although you can't export it to gpx. I've attached both below.
