Because they sent him a completely wrong product? (I mean he could just say that I suppose) But its very easy to get your money back on aliexpress when things dont turn up.

I work in composites R&D and testing. At the price, I'm quite tempted to section it up and test it! Looks pretty good to my eye though, it's a +/-45 UD layup inside, wrapped in 2x2 and all quite neatly. Like I said, I have absolutely no idea how they can make something like this for £10.50!

But yeah, looks weird. Need a round post!

What exactly could the testing tell us?

And yeah, the price is mad recently bought a pair of wide risers from orient ebay for a simillar price nuts really considering the quality.

I could have a closer look and see how many plies there are, look for voids, tab it up and measure the strength and stiffness. It would give you a pretty good idea what it would take to break the post. Could also probably make a guess what fibre and resin system the pre-preg was, based on that. Could put the clamp in compression until it fails.

Assuming I can be bothered though!

Well this did get finished, but it's been sitting in my kitchen unused for some time. Knee status is worse than it was, so motivation to take it to work for lunchtime rides is low. Should do this though, because it's an awesome ride. And I'm starting to get fat.

That's them. I don't know if I'd recommend them because, although I still think they look great and were lovely and smooth to ride, they delaminated something chronic. Not just at the skinwall either, the tread was completely peeling off in places.

I might have to resurrect this. It didn’t sell, which I’m secretly happy about because I really love the frame. Every time I pick it up in the loft it feels nice in my hands.

It’ll be a more road-oriented winter killer so I’m thinking flat bars, smoother treads and a bit more chainring. Would be nice to find that elusive round stem as well.

Stem conversion. Seem to be a few 1-1/4" stems (with a 1-1/8" = 28.6mm quill) around but all for 25.4mm bars and I already have 31.8mm. Also want a bit of drop. Nitto MT Column seems to be the only Ahead adaptor which is 28.6mm at the top and bottom and it's waaaaay expensive. I've used the bolt, wedge and top cap off the original stem and some thick wall 28.6mm aluminium tube cut to the correct angle to make my own adaptor. Just had to ream the top of the tube slightly to locate the step in the top cap.

Got a pair of Halo Twin Rail skinwalls on their way. I did buy a pair of Maxxis dth but the order messed up and they refunded me. Now showing as out of stock so I think they either didn’t actually have them or didn’t want to sell them at the price they had them listed. Anyway, if dth skinwalls aren’t shouty enough, these ones definitely are.
