When are you going to the Pyrenees?

Would vote for a 32 t rear as well. I find 32t rear with 28t front really useful while touring in the mountains. 28t/28t is a bit too high a gear for slightly steeper sections. I tour with full pannier setup but I’m kind of fit and lightweight myself.

11-32. All for low gears but 42-13/14 would be frustrating.

Why not go 11-28 and go for a 26T on the inner ring? You could even for a 24T if you really want. Comparing them, you keep the overall range of the 11-32 but have less overlap and closer spacings.
If you were touring in the Netherlands then sure, don't bother with anything faster than ~36kph but if you're in some hills it's nice to be able to take advantage of gravity! -

You got a route planned yet? I'd definitely plan in Pamplona for one of the rest days. Great city... although time your entry/exit outside rush hour.
I used a 11-32 / 10 Speed on the rear with a compact front, and long cage RD. It didn't look very sexy, but worked.

Triton, Enigma or Mosaic?
Moots, Firefly out of question due to lead time.

first time i've ridden my rim braker in a while - jesus that things a death trap!

Triton or mosaic. Probably triton. But buying anything from outside of the UK is so expensive now... so maybe something UK built? Personally not a fan of enigma. Reilly? If you do get a U.S frame/buy something on eBay and you want it shipped from the U.S, I can help.

Thats why I mainly looked at Firefly as its cheap to fly (east coast). Mosaic the same. Mosaic just doesent appeal to me for some reason. Triton is the cheapest and purely judging work from internet, they seem good.
Same with Enigma, work is good (made in UK stuff) but doesen't appeal.
Going to 4 bike life. Canyon remains the roadie, whatever this Ti thing will be as distance bike (rack mounts), a lock up bike and brompton. Except for canyon everything has dynamo.

Nice. @hoops said the finishing on tritons was top notch. Yeah I’m not that fussed about Mosaic either. Stinner also very very nice in ththe flesh.

I had a naked Triton frame and a naked Moots frame in for paint at the same time a while back. Both custom, both fresh from the factory, media blasted. Build quality of the Triton was on par, if not better than the Moots. I wouldnt have been able to tell which was which if they didn't have different dropouts.
Would avoid Enigma. Heard many bad things about the longevity of their Ti frames.
In my opinion TJD is the most skilled Ti builder currently operating in the UK.

Waltly?
Wittson?
Burls?
Van Nicholas? -

Actually, the Moots was deffo the loser of the two frames, as it was specced for eTap, but came with Di2 cable holes, which is a pretty major fuck up for such an expensive frame.

Also had a few Mosaics through the studio. Again, lovely frames but not worthy of the huge price tag if you are paying full RRP.
Made in America aint what it used to be. You are paying a high premium for an american brand, and get doubly fucked when you add the weak £ into the equation. There are an awful lot of highly skilled ex aerospace fabricators in eastern europe/russia that are producing super high quality Ti these days.

No more peasant brands. I was 99% set on getting a Moots the only reason I am not is they dont do customisation apart from geo. I dont need much on the frame just internal dynamo cable and a mount brazed on for the rear light. Plus flying to Colorado is not easy.

New Ti offering coming from Genesis in 2019 range.... I know its probably not what you're after, but the high end stuff from Genesis is extremely well put together. My 931 Volare Disc is the highest quality factory made steel frame I have ever seen in the flesh. Makes the Stainless Condor that costs almost twice as much look like it was made in a shed.

Couldn't have put better myself :)
I am deffo not drawn to 'Murica .. I will pay top dollar for skill no matter where in the world, plus the cyrillic 'Triton' on DT is almost anti-America in the current climate.

Oh wait, I'm guessing you dont want disc brakes do you?
Sorry, i stopped reading this thread about a year ago when it went all weird. I have no idea if you are now for or against disc brakes.
Why not get a medium cage and a 105 5800 11-32?
