Sorry it's been a hard day, and not in a fun way. Also, I've already spunked the best lube-related imagery I could find-unfortunately goatse-related lube products remain a niche market and my commitment to Amey's thread-length is about as enduring as the length of his average bike-ownership.

Nobody has seen it. I'm starting to have doubts - in all seriousness - about whether this frame actually exists.
This could the greatest hoax ever perpetrated.

Rod Bikes are nuts. But how many people really take them apart that often.
It's also crazy that these bikes essentially only exist because of the high tariff for taking bicycles on US planes. Such that the only sensible thing to do if you cycle within the US and fly around (which you would, because trains their suck) is that you want your bike to fit in a standard carry-on piece of luggage.
No-one needs a Rods Bike. Thankfully we're in Europe, and I own an S&S coupled bike and wouldn't do it again. Within Europe just get a standard bike box and ship the bike around or hire a bike at the other end.
S&S Couplers only really make sense for intra-US travel. And Rods Bikes only make sense if you live in the USA and only want to cycle elsewhere in the USA.

I'm flying California to Colorado mid-July on United, I'd like my travel bike for that otherwise it's going to be £$£$£. I may also put on a full suit of Kendo armour to deal with the United staff.

The thing is, I'm sure people have built bikes around a component, they just didn't broadcast the fact to the internet under the guise of some kind of lifestyle choice.

Funny you mention that, this thread might be a coincidence but my lifestyle has drastically changed since I started it. Bought a Brompton yesterday! Building a cyclocross bike soon which might be done and ridden before this. Whats happening?! What even!?

Amey just came over for a visit. On a bike that can pack down small for travel.
That's all I can say for now.
