  • Nice one Scott, really appreciate the info. Silly me for not realising at least part of your setup would be custom made with you and Robs input!
Fucking love your bike, picking up my low-budget, non-splittable surly copycat build from Brixton this week!
Please get back into production soon so I don't have to buy inferior luggage :D

  • Oh how I wish I could!

BTW... Check out the Siren cycles Fred Bar... Its a steerer mounted (above the stem), short section of bar that allows you to then mount aero bars to it, but mutch further back and higher.

  • The grips are ESI chunky...but Jeff now does his own foam grips that are about the same dimensions...but firmer and lighter. (same as the ones on the pic of my bar setup)

  • I have some Spinancis, would probably be about the right length, but with the front bar of Jones loops normally being quite high, you'll struggle to get the forearm angle and height right without ruining the ergonomics of all other bar positions.

Aero bars might work better with H-bars.

  • What's the going rate for Alpkit Jones knock offs these days? I happen to have a pair going spare.

  • Dibs!

(unless you're charging £80 like the cunts on eBay)

  • You are currently THIRD in the queue

  • I'm selling a pair of Titec H-bars w/extenders if anyone's interested? £35 collected

  • I might be interested in these @edmundro, depending on ££££

  • The price is in my post and in the classified listing ;)
    £35

  • @edmundro ta I was too slow

  • Any idea what the width of the cut out between the top sections of the Titec bar is @edmundro - Was looking at these an as option but wondered what the spacing is.

  • It's around 20cm

  • They're good bars....I've got the Jbar....basically those ^ but flat.
Don't forget, these are the original Jones bars, made under license by titec.....so not an inferior option!

  • @stedlocks have you got both sets, titec and alpkit ones? how do they compare?

  • They're a different bar fella....the width is about the same @660 ish, and the grip angle, where you hold, is about the same. The 'stedloops' ;0) obviously have a complete loop and the grip area seems slightly longer. I know that on the J bars I mounted the brakes on the horns, with the shifters attached via a matchmaker. On the alpkit ones, the brake and shifter can only go on the grip area (unless yours are both hinged or IPSec a or b), but there is enough room for an extended pair of oury grips.....does that make sense? I'll try to put a picture up later

  • Controltech extenders allow a brake lever to be mounted behind the weld on the h-bars.
The alpkit have far more room and the surly molokos have acres of grip real estate.

  • nice write up @stedlocks ta, pity the 'stedloops' didn't catch on I tried! cheers @edmundro.

I've only used my FuManchus on one longish ride and need to experiment more but didnt find the loop at the front that handy. I think the titec bars (non loop) could be more useful as I could fit bar end out front like tri bars.
    cheers

  • LadyLiz has lights and computer on her stedloop, she wrapped the same area as on the h-bar horns but they don't see much use.
The moloko horns seem far more practical to me.

  • Those Molokos look good ta.
I've been wondering if bar ends that have two bolt clamps exist.

  • I've been trying to make some!
The best I've managed to fudge, is a rip off of the Jones gnarwhall. Basically, I got an old Scott set of aero bars, which have clamp on extensions, and then I cut one down, put another oury grip and a load of tressortex tape around it, and mount it to the front of the loop. It actually works quite well, but you look like you're riding a unicorn. Not good.
Anyway, I took a couple of snaps of the stedloops ( a great name, that I shall continue using bigly), but I forgot to dig out the J bars.
Another option that I tried, was some on one Marys, flipped, with short bar ends mounted inboard. I loved these, and used them on my hardtail till the J bars entered my life!
