• Campag Pista

    Excuse me?

  • mergon pls

  • mergon pls

I don’t know what that means

  • Hammers and folk lore

  • Magnets

  • Same with all other BBs you get SBC to do it

  • What BB are you getting?

  • campag of some description. might be record pista, might be centaur. all I know is that it fits the cranks.

@jammy I do not believe that installing a BB is beyond me. I am very likely to be proved wrong here, but I do intend to try.

Also bought a Power saddle to try on the Canyon. Hopefully it means I can lose the last spacer and go #certifiedslammed. drops only.

  • Dibs power

  • BB tool will cost you the same as having it fitted and then you can unfit and refit for free in the future!
It either needs an external pin lockring type tool for this

or one with the splines on the inside like a cassette lockring for this

  • Deda on the Genesis, Masterpiece on the Pinnacle until I can afford an Ergon / VSCL. Thomson layback either getting sold or getting put on the Canyon, depending on how the Power Saddle affects my fit. Might get the S-Works inline carbon post for the Canyon, as it's cheap and decent.

Also bought some Giro Empires at Sigma because they still have some Black/Black ones, which I have always wanted. Need some white Speedplay Sidi Wires and some black S Works Sub 6's and my cycling shoe collection will be complete.

Running out of excuses not to ride the bloody things now.

  • No idea. Will find out tomorrow when they turn up.

  • Thomson layback either getting sold

    I am ready.

Power is step one towards SMP.

  • I've ridden SMPs before. The look is a marketing ploy to make them visible, it doesn't actually do anything for the rider that something like a Romin doesn't. Everyone riding one is getting mugged off.

The Power, on the other hand... quite nice, especially for the flat backed and flexible amongst us.

If only that was true, then we wouldn't have to use ugly saddles.

  • The dropped nose thing is completely unnecessary, and the rest of the design is pretty normal for sit-in style saddles imho. I can't think of a situation where one is necessary.

@jammy will have an opinion informed by experience but for my money it's a con.

  • The dropped nose thing is completely unnecessary

This I agree with but the curve of SMP that you sit 'in' isnt present in Power

  • Ah yeah, didn't realise you were talking about just the dropped nose. I think they do it to help reduce the chances of it grabbing your bibs when you go to sit on the saddle. I seem to remember reading somewhere about them doing it for thigh support too, so you can brace against the saddle easier. I think they would look weird with any kind of nose, drooped or not.

  • If you remove the nose, the angle that you sit in is still there. The power is designed to be tilted forward so the middle section is flat, just like the Romin and also like the SMP models. It gives you a central place to sit and a platform to push against. It's not revolutionary, it's just a weird shape for market visibility around a normal design imho.

  • @sumo talking about the whole thing really, but the nose is the most egregious example.

  • Hmm maybe I'll give power another try. @Dick @PhilDAS you got 143 to borrow?

  • I'm using and enjoying it. I guess I could put your SMP back on for a week or so if you wanted to try it out

  • My 143 went to @PhilDAS!

  • Let's do it, will PM

  • Think the major problem is that people run most saddles too "flat" and are more inclined to run SMP saddles at the "correct" angle because they're such a nerd saddle and look so weird they accept the position is supposed to be like that.

Talked to a guy at Fizik once who said their saddles are meant to be run flat. And when he said flat he meant with the RAILS parallel to the floor. Depending on the model of fizik that's upto -8 degrees
