has anyone got a spot tracker he can borrow?
I'm hoping to not get lost...

I'm pit crewing for @BareNecessities and @Howard, so with their permission I can provide in-race updates here if there is interest.
-
• #279
It's of interest! A couple of updates would be nice ;)

• #280
Fine with me :)

"Pete's just stopped again, for ANOTHER lunch break"
-
• #282
"I'm a Doctor of Cake. Trust me, you do need another piece of Battenberg"

Fair enough! The six hour was painful enough. 12 is going to be tough. You should take many breaks.
-
• #284
Yay!
Some more (nearly) dot watching! And someone look out for the mechanical doping!

Oh god no, I'm not ready. Did you take any breaks for the 6 hour?
-
• #286
I didn't take any breaks on Bigdog but I didn't plan to and I wanted to place well and finished top 20, 5:50 and just about the last on eight laps. So it went to plan. But:
I tried to pace myself but at the start you cannot go slowly enough. So no negative split for me. But then this was the bigdog course and it has more climbing than Torq.
Four hours in it gets hard if you haven't done many six hour rides. Take a break if you need to and you've planned to - it's supposed to fun after all!

Yes. What are you transport plans?
-
• #290
Yup, I'm praying that my new washers arrive from Paragon this week and help prevent a repeat of the chain-drop-gate that occurred at Big Dog.
@Howard, looks like the train might be relatively simple, depending on what's happening at Waterloo. Direct to Farnborough then a ride of 3.5 miles to the course.

Dropouts still slipping?
-
• #292
Gonna get zipcar or whatever I think
-
• #293
yeah, loads of chain drops at Big Dog. Frustrating but I don't think it made any difference to my final position. Hopefully the fewer hills and the longer duration at Torq in your Sleep will mean I won't be putting as much power down.

What's the reasoning behind the light flares on solo riders bikes? So the team riders travelling at pace can see us trudging along from a way off before flying past?
-
• #295
Mostly to offer encouragement when they pass which they do a lot. It's really heartening to get some positive vibes when you're dying on the course
-
• #296
That's nice of him!
And yes I've got it. Thanks for asking though.. it was in my junk folder which I haven't been checking over the two weeks I've been away. -
• #297
Hah yea this. It really helps.
-
• #298
I have many different 'favourite' cakes, but I think what I'd happily stuff right after the ride would be some bread pudding :-)
-
• #299
Never made bread pudding before, but I will do my best (can't guarantee it will be warm at midnight though!)

It's so you can have a proper rave when you ride by the DJ.
Good luck with this Pete (and anyone else who is doing it!), and has anyone got a spot tracker he can borrow? :0)
