  • Can you ask Seven to integrate one of these for you? Maybe not as the above is flat.. Looks ace either way

  • Looks shit tho.

  • It's going in the bar end :)

  • That is the bar-end junction box isn't it? Just in a square plate.

  • Thread title change... it's no longer the 622 SLX.

I've had my bike fitting, and I've ridden some test bikes of different materials and the 622 is out.

I didn't like the Cervelo feel, it wasn't lively enough... it was close, but the Serotta just had so much joy in it, the way a small exertion made the bike feel like a coiled spring being unleashed, it was always a joy and the Cervelo lacked that same quality.

Also was going through the other requirements, and the desire to accommodate larger tyres meant that the seat stays were likely to be Ti.

Have decided that if we're going to have seat stays and down tube as Ti, then the frame would be better being Ti throughout. So test rode a full Ti and that feeling was a lot closer to the Serotta than the carbon mix or full carbon bikes, whilst also offering a high degree of durability.

This means that the bike should be a Seven Axiom SLX... except I'm asking for a few things that make it sound more like a Seven Evergreen SLX. So they're going to be me something in between... loosely described as a 4-season all-road bike that will act and feel like a road bike more than any other type of bike, yet will handle whatever I throw at it.

  • Looking forward to seeing this develop. Will you be able to post drawings/plans when they happen?

  • The CAD.

  • Position change is subtle.

The position has been rotated slightly, the front is fractionally lower than my last setup.

Changes to the feel to keep it lively when it has luggage include the chain stays fractionally shorter and the BB fractionally lower.

The clearances accommodate 32mm tyres with fenders or 35mm without fenders.

The front fork is Enve GRD.

  • Frame and fork are likely to be Pantone 2037.

  • VERY nice .. when do you get it?

  • All components will be black, except spokes... which will be silver.

  • when do you get it?

    5 week frame build.
    2 week paint.
    1 week delivery and build.

I guess in a couple of months.

  • surprisingly quick and just in time for summer :)

  • Yeah.

And Cyclefit will loan me a DA crankset until the powermeter one is available... so I'll not have to wait for that and will have DA R9170 everything else from day one.

  • this bike will break instagram

  • Good stuff you're going for R9170+PM.
    Polished or matt pink?

  • Polished.

I'm cool with paint chipping and picking up flaws over time.

I've asked for no logos or stickers, just a head badge. I may see if they are willing to make their monochrome 7 logo as a Ti cut-out that can be welded on and extrude from the head tube rather than having a bolt-on head badge.

Just that... as naked Ti extruding from the polished pink.

  • In my experience, polished finishes are much tougher and easier to clean than matt finishes, so, good choice.

  • Not hubs? Silver spokes and black hubs always looks odd imo

This only comes in black: http://www.nabendynamo.de/produkte/sondelux12_en.html

This also comes in black: https://www.chrisking.com/product/r45-rear-hub/

And if I find I decide not to dynamo, then Chris King will go on the front too.

  • Finishers love it when you spec pantone colours! ;)

  • Hah, I know.

"So I need to map this hypothetically perfect colour to a different colour scheme and then apply it to this material over that base, and then the customer will be happy."

Still... close as possible will be good enough.

  • Make sure you get centrelock chris kings, not 6 bolt. Lets you use the super prolly rotors (which are legitimately better):
