Because I never really wanted a full suspension bike until I saw this one. Then I test rode it, and had to have it.
If you're asking how I justified that, it has the perfect amount of travel, geometry I like, a compact suspension design that leaves lots of front triangle space, and I like the customer service you get when something is made by one basically one person in Scotland. I spent half a day riding with the builder, and I agree with pretty much all his thoughts on bicycle engineering and design.
It's also probably worked out a lot cheaper than an equivalently well-specced OTP bike, because I am a pro #buyer when it comes to mtb components. The only mass-produced bike that ticks my boxes is the new Giant Trance 29, and I'm pretty sure they ripped Adrian's design off...
Also steel is hawt shit, just look at it.

I am a big fan of mass produced stuff, when it comes to it I will ask you for your advice but will put Giant Trance on the list

Fit enduro bearings off the bat.

I'm sure Adrian the professional engineer has thought through his bearing choice ;)
-
• #424
I'm sure he has, but I would wager keeping an extra £50 in his pocket and delivering acceptable bearing life is worth more to him than the extra 100 hours of creak free running £80 spent on enduro bearings would give you :)
That said, maybe they don't do em in those nice chunky sizes.
