Missed this. I ran 45mm PDWs with 32s last winter, LBS fitted them and no issues. Didn't need cutting or trimming anywhere to fit them. Haven't put them back on yet (I know, I know), changed tyres to 34s and I think that'll be fine as there was bags of space under the guards.

I just realised that there is a correlation between The Modern House floor plans being PDFs and Fairlight PDFs.
Someone should do a PHD thesis on this.

how long before we see a Fairlight in a Modern House listing? Hanging on the wall, natch.

Spent an hour or so reading through all the lovely reviews (and PDFs) to finally get to the ordering (PDF) page to see the big boy frames are 'currently unavailable' sigh. I was bought in for just a moment. :(

650b was pushed to allow bigger tyres over 700c
That was certainly on the pitch for the 3T Exploro bike, which was designed at least ten years ago. But since then frames have evolved, and gear trains offer lower gearing. Reason for my own choice was that the same gear train (GRX 2 x 11) on road and gravel bike produces identical gearing on 28-622 and 47-584 tyres. This was specifically one of the pitch points for the Exploro.

That's the idea that marketing departments wanted to sell us but you only have to look at the world tour level carbon race bike market to realise that the majority of customers with exploro money want the fastest, most aero, most refined road bike and many consider a 2-3 year old bike to be outdated. This same market was never going to be happy putting 28s in a gravel bike.
The gravel-road wheel swap idea just never caught on. People don't want the gaps over the tyres, they don't want 1x and huge cassettes (on road bikes) and very few customers of £10k bikes have only one bike. -

Silverlight is an award-winning celebration of, and insulation from, the outside world.
Without a hint of self awareness lol

My remarks relate to the pitch for Exploro at the time (~2015). I know what was in it because I was doing the content!

Once again having an itch to get a faran frameset to replace an Arkose.
Benefits include front loading, Arkose has no fork mounts, and bigger clearance. At £1.1k with Hope headset, is the Faran still a great all-rounder for commute, gravel/tour? Anyone got one and got bored, looking to offload a 51t, 54r?
-
• #541
it's very comfortable, has all the options for carrying bags that you could want, I've ridden 3 north London dirts on it
where are you? Mine is 54t if you want to try it

a 51t, 54r
what sort of a freak are you?
-
• #544
Ah. I am north London, work in White City if you could get there
I am 5,10 and use a 90mm stem if that helps

Anyone with a Secan 2.5 managed to fit 700x50 tyres on it running 2x GRX instead of 1x? Not sure whether to risk it or not

No chance. I've 45mm tyres and that's max. Leaves 3mm to derailleur
I've got the schwable gone bite on. Great tyre for mixes riding on drop bars.

Genuinely makes me feel a bit sad reading that because of how much I disliked mine. What is wrong with me!

Woof. Thanks, will get some 43mm Gravelkings
Sorry, I am being a muppet. Just checked and mine are the 37mm too. Could have sworn I went for 45. Looks like plenty of room though.
