Both my road bikes have had the Di2 battery stuffed into the seattube and not in the post for various reasons (VCLS post, bodged hanger things). Makes no difference other than being a bit tricky to take it out, which I rarely do anyway. Done #fuckloads of miles with it like this.
Wrap it in some foam and electrical tape to stop it bouncing around. -

When I have some light.
Build list (many parts from my talbot):
Fairlight Faran Black 54R, Ultegra 6800 hydraulic groupset with 5700 front derailleur, hope rs4 laced to raceface arc rims, ultradynamico rose 650x47.99 , salsa cowchippers, fizik stem and seatpost, brooks c15 saddle, reused cork tape, king cages, middleburn rs2 50/34.
Future bits: fit pizza rack, get 700x 38c Teravail ramparts fitted to my hunt wheelset, fit pdw guards as and when needed. Potentially get the weenie spider and 46/30 rings. -

I’m in Canada. It’s come…accompanied by insane levels of rain!

I am terrible at bike photography!
These chaps at fairlight know a thing or two about designing a bike. Glorious.

Very tasteful, how did you route the cables /hoses underneath? I have a sketchy area where the rear derailleur cable crosses the rear hydro line which stresses me out, but can't figure out a better way to do it.

Thanks!
Good question - the routing is a bit iffy down there and annoyingly I had to revert to zip ties as the included cable guide bits wouldn’t actually snap into place.
The hydro hose loops over the shifter cable and is sort of held in place by the zip ties. It was done last and by my LBS as I needed a longer hose. He seemed alright with it. I’ll grab a photo in abit that hopefully supports what I wrote!

interesting. I have it the other way round, but either way it's kind of annoying... all the reviews go on about how deeply dialled the rig is and yet..

That does seem really weird - just checking I’ve got it right, the downtube cable guides force you to have the rear brake hose cross the rear mech cable twice?

surely give fairlight a call? could send out another one. that pictured setup probably isnt 100% ideal

I don't really know as I just got my LBS to do it. I don't think it crosses twice but it does seem to have to cross somewhere. I queried it with them and they had a go at getting it neater but in the end, it had to cross, so... it crosses.

Looks fantastic. Very keen on a Faran at some point! The black colourway looks good here but I was disappointed the midnight blue was discontinued.

Sorry for blast from the past - how high do you set your saddle from the BB in the picture you posted? Having the same dilemma at the moment...

Yeah seems odd. I initially tried going under but that didn’t work.
@swedeee the thought had crossed my mind. The fork ones worked fine so I don’t know if it’s the snaps or if there is extra paint build up on the guides.
@Thorntonreed I originally ordered the blue to be told I would not be receiving it. I’m now very happy with the black but still a bit annoyed at Fairlight for their communications on the colour change. I am looking forward to getting even fatter rubber and some fun off-road miles in!

No worries - will check tomorrow for you

On my Faran the gear cables are either side of the DT via the printed part, hydro hose zip tied to the brazed on bits.
I would echo swede - email them they are nice folks and care about this stuff

I couple of mine. I need to fix the front mudguard, I’ve got a silver seat clamp to put on for now but I think I will go back to silver kit on spring

What tyres are people running on their Straels? I've currently got a set of Continental Grand Prix 4 Season 28s on mine, but not sure I'm making the most of the clearance etc. and should go bigger.
Riding on crappy winter roads. -

Michelin Power Road 32s tubeless, superb so far, in all conditions. I've got a Strael 3.0 and there's enough space to fit 45mm mudguards too. Size up and you won't look back!

sort of wish i'd gone for 45mm vs a 37mm pdw so could go up a bit on tyre width (currently on 28mm contis).... maybe next winter season :-)
nice!
