Love a chilled tour. How did you work out the accommodation for the airbnbs? Pre planned it all out like a psychopath (me) or took it free and easy with last minute booking?

Also I like your shorts, where'd you get them if you don't mind me asking?

Ah, another psychopath like me! Yes everything was pre-booked about 6 months in advance. I even had a spreadsheet of all the details under the clear pocket on my rando bag - romantic I know. Slight gamble because if one of the ferries couldn't run then everything's messed up, but we passed literally hundreds of B&B's and I'd guess 80% showed 'full' so glad we did.

Regarding the shorts, they were actually an old paid of (Wrangler?) trousers. Like most of the shorts I wear nowadays when they get holes in the knees they're given another lease of life. Sorry that's probably not very useful answer!

Yeah, I guess that's why they invented S&S couplers..
I can add that to the list of reasons to get one of the fancy coupled steel tandems from JD Tandems at some point ;)

Haven't really changed this much since last updated. Still a great all-rounder for long days in the saddle and taking you where the road bike won't.

Thanks for the comment. Very similar it turns out. I'm keeping half an eye out for a large frame, so may be swapping everything over at some point. Still thinking hydro brakes would be nice, but I said that 6 years(!) ago.

That's very kind. It's not the flashiest or most exciting bike I've owned by a long way, but it's the one I've ridden the most and given me some great memories touring.

A new player enters the game (to replace the Sabbath September). Spent a couple of hours removing some unwanted branding with acetone and it's looking slightly better.

Getting there slowly as finding spare time hard at the moment. I've never encountered internal cable routing this evil before, but will be employing the thread and hoover method when I'm back home. Fingers crossed that works.

The Kinesis is now built but haven't had a chance to ride it due to life/work getting in the way, although plan to take it out soon. Will make sure to get a photo on its maiden voyage.

You know when you casually comment 'dibs if you ever sell', and don't really think anything of it. Well, after saying that 6 years ago a deal was struck and a lovely Neil Orrell turned up in the post yesterday. It has a bit of lufguss provenance...

This is the frame's history according to Mr Orrell himself, in 2014... 'The frame was built in 1979 for a Graham Trunks, who looked after it well as you say, Graham has poor health now so he handed his bikes over to his son to dispose of. The frame was re-enamelled perhaps about 5 or 6 years ago but I don't think it has been used much since'.

The above was what @ough discovered when he owned it, and then I bought it from the true to his word @WilliamJohn.

Looking at the condition it's seen lots of miles and could benefit from a respray, but think I'll savour the build process collecting bits as they pop up second hand. If it's a keeper then who knows, it might get treated to fresh paint in the future. Can't quite get over it has room for 32mm wide tyres and mudguards which feels perfect for my type of riding.

Not really sure on how to build it other than going with Campagnolo 9/10 speed, being a Shimano fanboy it's always been forbidden fruit, plus feel like it might suit the more traditional style of this classy steel tourer.
