Either he's stopped somewhere for a sit-down meal or there are tracker issues. :)
-
• #3453
Now he seems to have gone off-route ...
-
• #3454
frrt had him down as finished a while ago.
-
• #3455
This all seems very appropriate for Mr Coulon. Chapeau David, whenever you finish.
-
• #3456
I'm going to consider him finished.
There's no reason he has to go to a specific hotel when no-one is there awaiting him.
-
• #3457
Yes, I was thinking the same. I had originally thought that brevet cards would be stamped even after a CP closed, but seeing Wiesia's suggested not. So bravo, David!

It's a funny one. His flag isn't bouncing on trackleaders yet - which shows 'finished' and he's now back on route.
His flag's bouncing now. Job done.

Met Jonny Gallimore on my commute this morning.
He was rigged up for a three day ride to Paris.
Really nice guy.
Finished TCR in 14 days. -

1m10s... 40-50,000 metres of climbing?!
Surely 4-5,000 metres?
This was in reference to just the training period over the prior year.

^ Amateur.

Some people do 2-3000 in a day, regularly. Wouldn't be hard (yes it would, but it's conceivable) to do 50,000m in 6 months.

• #3466
"This year I've ridden around 12,000 KMs, I've done about 40-50,000 metres of climbing."
That's basically a vertical wall.
-
• #3467
Have you been to the Chilterns?
-
• #3468
The AUK AAA champ has climbed 188,826m last season. I yoyoed with him on two events.

• #3469
Two saddlebags as well.

Him not me.

Errr... I stand to be corrected but:
Its an equivalent gradient of 0.42%:
50,000 metres= 50km (rise)
12,000 km= 12,000km (run)
Gradient = rise/run x 100For reference-
Regents Park (outer circle) has 30m (though some sources claim 50!) of vertical rise. It is roughly 4.4km long.
So an average gradient of 0.68% -
• #3472
It's about 400m of climbing per 100km which if anything seems pretty low.
-
• #3473
Given tcr 2016 was 4000km 40,000m. (Possibly more). 50,000 per 12,000 is quite sedate!
-
• #3474
Second date?

• #3475
I was very confused by all of the above.
It's a good job I don't work with anything to do with mathematics or computing.
I see him as still riding... but not for long.
