Not TCR but sort of related, excellent documentary around the IPWR that was released a couple of days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5b9or1rGp8
Well worth a watch and my bad if already posted somewhere

there was a photographer (pedaled, I think) at the top of Monte Grappa taking some snaps. Anyone know who he was?
edit: slightly heavier dude, tanned. Looked spanish or maybe italian. Maybe long-ish hair?

Tina, Goran and Hector are likely to finish tomorrow. Wiesia and Josie could if they put a massive effort in.
Lead and order among those five has chopped and changed.

She wanted to ride through last night but the dogs were messing with her so she decided to stop and start again early this morning. Looks like she didn't snooze her alarm this morning :)

Apart from my ambivalence about cycle touring being turned into a race, I do wonder if this was perhaps an event with one too many stages.
-
• #3362
Why? It's around the same length as the last four editions.
It was also never a 'cycle tour'.
-
• #3363
Do we have to race every where? What did you see, hear, smell and learn...
-
• #3364
I think you race places when it's a race.
-
• #3365
Uh, it's a race.
I've experienced and learned an amazing amount during my ultra races. Just because I'm not stopping and doing a walking tour of a castle doesn't mean I'm not experiencing things or discovering things.
The touring thread is over there >>>

I know it's a race. That was the point I was making..

Anyone is free to tour the route (checkpoints) any time they like. Walk around countless cathedrals. Take lots of photos for facebook. Eat nice food. TCR is a race. Racers race in a race. I'm genuinely not sure what point you were making. Racing is bad and we should all slow down?

I think @Peter_Carter was making a point about the ever increasing speed of life in general and people's need to want to track, record, measure and display their efforts, particularly in recreational sports / hobbies. The rise of Strava etc. I can see where he's going, without wanting to put words into his mouth. More of a general point than a criticism of TCR perhaps.

It was. I should add that I have nothing but respect for Hippy for doing this and the Trans Am..
The thread for a debate about cycling culture is over there>>>>>>
-
• #3371
That's not really the sort of touring I was referring to.
-
• #3373
Didn't this race finish not be a climb?
-
• #3374
The final parcours is a descent but that's only to force you to climb the bastard in the first place. There's a stack of climbs before it as well.

Tina and Wiesia should finish in the next couple of hours.
My respect for them is growing daily.
Yeah.
I recognised the fold out panels held up with stakes.
