Apparently it was kiryienka further back who could see Aru poorly positioned and radioed it in and Kwia and Froome then dropped the hammer

Luke Rowe also mentioned it in post race interview, as he was going backwards on final climb Aru was all on his own, and Astana hadn't ridden together all day. Poor communication and tactics today.

I think Astana will be grateful to lose the yellow, judging by their comments this morning

Does he get extra points for that?

The super combativité prize perhaps at the end?

All the criteriums. Criteria?
Fuck knows. Him and the red lantern. -
• #2885
red lantern
Lanterne rouge sounds so much better. Luke Rowe was looking nailed on for that, but Dan McLay made a big move backwards today. It's going to be close.

Bardet really is class.
Only 26 too. -

I like Michael Matthews, quiet chap, nice hair... Much like @0 I wasn't so sure about the grandstanding over the finish line...

I wasn't sure exactly what Kwiatkowski's role would be at this TdF. Thought he was perhaps in for a stage win or long break.
He's been unbelievable working for Froome. Most rounded rider in the peloton?
-
• #2893
He's one of the best riders of this generation.
And yes he probeberly is, he's good everywhere, which has almost been his problem, not knowing where to specialise of being pushed the wrong way. Tbisbyear he's very muxh back to his best.Rouleur did a brilliant interview with him earlier this year.

Missed yesterday. Did Aru have the yellow ripped from his back in a death or glory fight to the line or did he simply hand it back to The Leader ?
-
• #2895
He just went missing at the end.
-
• #2896
He really did.
He was up there with the others, then suddenly not.

I'm loving the idea that he gave up the race leadership on purpose. After the fact spin at its worst.
I'd love to know where he expects to gain the 90 seconds he now needs to beat Froome.
Today's stage could be interesting, it's one where you're not going to win the Tour, but you might lose it. Aru is rumoured to be tired, Quintana said he was tired yesterday, so a well timed move could eliminate some of the existing top ten.

Looking forward to today. The first time over L'Aubrac I think...
Have ridden around there several times. Its not the Alps but is very hilly, lots of sizable rolling hills and very changeable weather, have been caught out by sudden storms a fair few times. -

I don't think anyone in Sky has done a bad job (although you could make a case for Froome being below par) but Kwiatkowski has been phenomenal. One of the best riders in the world and he's totally committed to the cause.

Hasn't Aru been shown up to be a bit of a dimwit? All he had to do was hold Froome's wheel, Shirley?
Ok not clever riding by Froome, just bad by Aru
