tried canti's, think brake pads too big , so may change, seatpost here in the morning so can get on with things
-
• #28
tried out post, it fits, has no real insertion marks , but a trail of one at the top
which is a pain as was listed as nos, was 19 euro, so, c'est la vie , at this stage of game will have to do, saddle rail clamp cluster is defo a cluster..
glad I went for swift over swallow, road test tyres on..

think I'll need a bag rack of some sorts as the rear brake cable line could be obstructed otherwise

this frame is amazing.

• #31
thanks, the more I'm looking at it, the more I'm thinking of leaving it as it is resto wise, hopefully as long as forks and stays are kept dry and waxed should be all good
-
• #32
challenge grifo opens and a carradice bag rack en route , may go
without but at least I have the option now -
• #33
routing the cable from the bar end shifter , have seen cable exit just before drop curve on bar and up near stem / bar tape end on another Colnago steel Cx, was told the latter can be too much for friction bar end shifting , we'll see

did the former on my gazelle tourer. neater/straighter cable routing and all the room for the handlebar bag. my vote is on that.
very nice project, and kudos for the effort in keeping up the thread. I just tend to post a picture of the finished article -

cut some strips off scrap leather to make 'sleeves' for the toe cages
(as I hate when they scrape along the ground)
also had a win at Waterlooplein flea market, wool world champ jersey, my size, 10 euro! (think it's a bit earlier than the frame set though)

well, might be able to wear jersey, Beppe on a bike of the same era...
I contacted the factory regarding a visit after the ride, as yet no response,so may just have to take the jump and just turn up with it
speaking of jumping and period correctness...here's this..

Completion still a few days away , close inspection of Bb highlighted too much wear , one in good nick will be mounted
-
• #41
Matching gloves for the wool jersey incoming also
-
• #42
not really happy with the colour of the toe cage straps in juxtaposition with the other contact points (black sr pedal, black saddle, benotto wrap and bar end shifter cover),
to counter this issue, black period rightish Alfredo Binda straps are now incoming,
looking for perfection maybe?...oh wait(1983)..
