• picked this up a while back , got L'Eroica Italia soon, so fuck it , ride it rat like
the mission in total is a road trip to the event , and on the way back , rock up to the factory with it and try to blag some pics, if I fail there I fail , as least I know I tried.
I've had a few Colnago's pass through my hands , and seen many , many more
as far as I can recall, I have only seen online 5 or 6 of these models

to get into the spirit of blagging in Italy, this...

    more soon

  • i used to own this, bought of original owner who competed on it back in the day, an Alan made Dual Cx

sadly to small, would have been nice to use it

  • Check this out: http://www.velovilles.com/fahrradteile/sattelstuetze/Super-Record-Colnago-26-8-mm.html
It's ridiculously overpriced but the interesting thing about it is that they milled it down from 27,2 to 26,8. So you could look for a really scratched cheap 27,2 seatpost and ask your local metal works guy if it is possible to mill it down to 27,0 or 26,8.

I've had a few Colnago's pass through my Hands

A bit of an understatement, innit?

  • I got a few 27.2 ones , sounds like an idea if I get stuck
Not sure on clinchers or tubes

  • I date the frame to circa '84 given the flat, colnago stamped stay caps,
so I will use a black ano 3ttt stem colnago panto with the same font as Beppe's .
Sr rear mech , sr levers, black campagnolo hoods, sr headset , sr bb, sr 1x cx crankset (irie) , 1x campagnolo bar end shitfer, sr seatpost clamp,sr pedals, mafac canti's , mafac seatpost clamp cable guide, either nisi/sr clinchers or mavic/sr tubs, brooks black swift saddle, obligatory carradice bag, benotto black ribbon
may have a seatpost option, yet to confirm
The frame is in pretty much beater condition, but the frame is sound , b b shell underside is also unusual for Colnago

winter is coming, so these last few dry days I have been preparing my shed for it
from tomorrow I have more time for this
    (edited)

  • if going with circa '84 , this may help set the scene
(edit:jam on it went on a bit, here's Juan instead)

  • stem it came with was a bitch, I had to cut the top off and chemically remove over a few nights, did not bother with pics, so have to take my word

  • confirmed seat post size , 26.4 , last thing I need to get, going with nisi clincher set, pics monday

  • Weird size, isn't it SL?

  • seat tube decal says Columbus , wasn't happy with vernier reading so took to a bike shop on Wandsworth rd , I had a stuck drive side shimano bb shell cup they removed and verified the seat post size
i just pulled the trigger on a nos 3ttt 'record' fluted one , for decent dough , stem and bars are 3ttt

  • probably smarter than spending a shitload of $ on a 26,4 SR seatpost. Afaik Nuovo Records in 26,4 are a bit more common...

  • I got it for 30 euros, some on eBay cost more than the frame set , I have an offer pending on a Nuovo , but I can hold out now until I see one realistically priced , thinking of challenge gum wall (Linus?) , I know a shop on the edge of Antwerp does them so will give me an excuse to pass by

  • frame and forks weight is 2.860 kg

I put protection wax inside the tubes and forks

  • nisi / sr /14-25 teeth

  • most of the components

  • The Limus is a deep mud tyre, probably better to get an all rounder like the Grifo or the Fango, both still available in gum wall.

  • 2 chainguards?

  • ok, prob grifo

  • yes , Cx set up, will borrow bolts and spacers from the nos Ofmega Cx crankset , Campagnolo ones are nos

  • My Saronni (colnago made) has the same BB bracket shell.

  • ok, interesting

  • tried out the wheels, and saw the geo differences between a corsa Super of the same era

the corsa is still a w.i.p, i haven't got round to changing the forks for sloping crown ones (got to cut steerer tube as well) , and I have another black tri color panto stem , just waiting for right size bars

  • part one of road trip , on ferry now , will complete build on other side , images should hopefully improve as I can use my usual camera

  • frame and forks purpose built for canti's
undrilled fork bridge and seat stay bridge

forks and rear triangle could do with a re chrome tbf
campagnolo cx chain set (sugino 3x bolts)

seat post due any day, just got to get tyres
