  • its not 'that' cheap .. a 26" can be built up half that price with a bit ob ebay trawling.

  • yeah but I don't know fuck all about mountain bikes, I can't be arsed to trawl eBay and that one looks fine + fun?

  • Yep, I'm afraid I'm keeping the P2. It's going to be converted to Di2 over the winter.

    1. '09 Trek District - Commuter with guards
    2. '16 GT Grade - 650b (temporary) road bike

In the works: Eesu 650b road bike

  • Can anyone give advice on how to reduce bikestash? I guess only I know which bikes to keep or not, but some pointers would be appreciated. Currently on 7 but two more planned ... eek. Kind of want three or four.

*Track iron: refurbed 70s Geoff Butler 531sl w Campag pista (fits well)

*Fixeh: Neil Orrell 80s/90s Hellenic 531ds track w/ mixed but lovely parts. (fits well)

*Fixed rando/audaxy thing: Dave Yatez 853 custom (unlikely to sell this, fit is obv excellent)

*Vintagey Audax: Mercian Olympic 531 1976 w NR on 70s Phils x tb14, (Lightish and lovely, a bit long for me)

*Road: Duell in Brain tubes ~1998 2x9 Athena (stiff and a good roadie, fits well)

*Tour/commute/everything: 80s EGBates 531ST heavy duty and great, but noodly under high-up loads, (bit long for me)

*ATB: Condor 853 hardtail ~1998 w/ Deore, (fits well)

*Road Fixed vintage: Jack Taylor curved (repair) in pipeline (probably going to feel a bit long for me)

*One Bike to Rule Them All: TBC special project in pipeline, hopefully will replace four of the above. Will be on the tourer/bike for life/light cargo side of things

  • Keep:
Fixed rando/audaxy thing: Dave Yatez 853 custom (unlikely to sell this, fit is obv excellent)
Road: Duell in Brain tubes ~1998 2x9 Athena (stiff and a good roadie, fits well)

    Get rid:
    E'ryting else.

  • That's ^ the kind of talk I need right now. Thanks @Señor_Bear

  • Tourer is begging to be kept as it's tatty and easy to lock up and not give a shit about.

  • My girlfriend has better bikes than me.

    Mine:
    1 - Winter/pub; Globe Roll 2, drops, p-clipped rear rack & full guards.
2 - HHSB/Track/Hillclimb; Pre Cursa 'mild lo pro' with about 5 pairs of wheels.
3 - FGTT/Track Pursuit; Dolan Pursuit Champion 'double disc'.
4 - Token Geared Bike (Unfinished project, currently SS): Ribble TT.

    Hers:
5 - Fair weather daily; Pre Cursa.
6 - Shit weather daily; Condor Pista, drops, p-clipped rear rack and Crud guards.
    7 - Track/HHSB; Panasonic NJS.

  • I'm thinking:
    fixed 853 yates
    Duell road
    Tatty tourer
One of the track bikes, best fit, probably Orrell.
One Bike to Rule Them All

    Down to 5...

but the atb is calling me.

  • ATBs are required for the zombie apocalypse. You can't get rid of that!

  • Christ, I really do need more bikes.

  • No, not more bikes, it only makes you ride less because there's always one bike that needs maintenance. and if not you're building just a new one. I really wish I could downsize my collection (without having a bad feeling) and I could resist when a "new" one appears...

  • About 13,600.

  • So almost 14 bikes?

    ;)

  • One and only track bike left.

But in past was about 130 road bikes an couple track bikes :)

  • Fully working as they're supposed to? Probably about 14, yes.

    ;)

  • If you don't neccessarily need the money for other urgent expenses, I'd advise you to just store your campag pista track iron somewhere on the attic under a blanket and pretend you sold it. In 10 years, it'll be worth even more and you'll be happy to see it again while in the meantime you can just pretend that you have one bike less :)
