  • Should be plenty of support in that area, might get away with it longer than you think... not like a downtube, although this is probably one of the finest bodges ever:

  • Gave my decathlon drinking bladder another lease on life by fixing some holes with self adhesive patches.

  • Truing stand V2 - found another stand with a large but slim base which was perfect for doubling up, scrounged a bit of 5mm steel rod for the wheel holder which is much stiffer than the 4mm brass bar that was on there so structurally it's done now - might jazz it up with some plasti kote on the base & polish the brass bits for no reason whatsoever... now weighs around 20kg...

  • Knocked up a little under pizza rack light mount the other week, didn't really think it was worthy of here. I have noticed that the front wheel has been basically spraying water at the back of the light since then though, so bodged it a bit more with a Brompton mudguard flap, which I think is a bit more worthy.

  • which I think is a bit more worthy.

A fourth flap is news in itself and worthy of respect.

  • Not quite 500k but I once finished my commute (from Camberwell to Putney) with a broken downtube secured with a toe clip strap and my scarf. Did the commute back home (to New Cross) with the same set up but reinforced with packaging brown tape from work.

  • Amazing!!!!!!

  • It has a crack in the frame thanks to Bristol Dropouts (or whatever they're calling themselves these days)

How did they manage to do that?

  • The drainpipe boot is from Instagram, the clamp bodge is by my mate who ran out of long clamps for his project.

  • That's special - vertically compliant / laterally terrifying?

  • i see loads of clamp chaining like that on yt. my dad used to get a rope tied round the object and then twist a pipe into it as a quick clamp. not sure why that's not a more widespread thing

  • I've always thought using wooden wedges was very smart and adaptable way of clamping varying sizes of boards..

Also stumbled upon this rather handy guide

  • Strong left leg, weak right leg

  • Amazing if it works! Seems like a recipe for dropping/snapping a chain tho.

  • Not going anywhere with that sawn off axle...

  • Autumnwatch wireless camera support & stabiliser hack

  • Unbridled genius.

  • That’s cool.
My hack regarding chain ring bolts is to tighten them with a torque key.
When they all have the same torque noone will come loose and they only require the 4-6 Nm.
I’ve not have a loose nor a seized chain ring bolt in the past 10+ years.

  • Minor bodge: rounded off seat clamp bolt (yeah I know) on identiti clamp which luckily had cam shaped bits. Spare qr lever from a different size clamp = successfully bodged until replacement arrives.

  • Nice, I'll try that next time, thanks

  • here's a recent one for me. wanted full fenders but also 2.1 knobbies. fork disagreed. alas the front fender got the saw. there are two keys to hacking fenders. first is maintaining two mounting points each (front mounted to rack) for both sides of hacked fender. second is keeping the rolled edges to maintain rigidity.
