Ah yea the force on the wrong part of the forks. Semi-instant death.

Clocked this corker in Barcelona, from what I can tell there is a shim on the inside of the post as well and they have jammed the weight down over the collar to hold it all in place.

Hacksers and bodgers, any ideas what to do here? I can't get the wald strut vertical enough to meet with the basket in the correct place due to the bulge in the fork.
Would spacers to push each strut outbound a few mm be safe?
-
• #1042
I've found some suitably chunky washers, they help a bit, but to space enough I'm gonna need a longer qr, I'm guessing that signals that I'm getting to danger territory?
-
• #1043
Could use a rear qr? I wouldnβt think itβd be dangerous. Mine isnβt a well informed opinion though.
-
• #1044
Yeah I was wondering that too

File the strut down a bit.
-
• #1046
File the end of your fork off completely, will be lighter too.
-
• #1047
Well, it's on. I did think about filing the struts, but there's the larger hole higher up which i'd be filing near to, leaving not much metal to actually support the basket.
Chinese fork, rear skewer, shit spacers for a wald basket, definitely in the right thread
-
• #1048
Ha, even the fork is saying 'eek'
-
• #1049
That'll be reet. Chop the excess skewer down though, so you don't puncture your leg when parking/moving the bike etc.

Would it be instant death to put the strut on the inside of the fork? There doesn't appear to be the same lip there? (I have no idea whether this is a bad idea or not)
Edit: probably not - you'd have to turn the strut around.
