  • Arrived at 13:30 zulu on a snoozer train. Settled into our airbnb courtesy of the valleys own Anne Robinson, Bev.

She knows how to scatter a cushion.

Unpacked and sorted the sunglasses, many of them veterans of the [http:// https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/148490/newest/] Alps trip

Decided to give the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir a blast to turn the legs over. 2742ft in 24 miles. 14.2 mph average.

just a taster so we could acclimatise to the black top, the wildlife, the flora and fauna and the local beer.

Tims Flora and Forna Corner: Impressive bracken on day one. gorgeous wild thistle and buttercups sprinkled among the giant pine.

  • Lovely.

  • Are you trying to compensate for not having to suck your guts in?

  • Day one : thoughts so far.... When are train companies going to get a grip on the number of tickets needed for this type of journey . I kid you not, 25 tickets came out of the mouth of that machine this morning.
Thought 2 .... The Welsh love a bit of pebble dash.
Thought 3 .... Abergavenny is more than just a provincial shit dump with dodgy beers and crap female darts teams. Happy to pass on Airbnb info to anybody looking to ride in the area.
Thought 4 ...... The Welsh love a scatter cushion

Enjoyed the first venture out into the Welsh black top. Deceptively uphill in one direction and joyfully down in the other. Can't wait to get back out tomorrow amongst some of these unpronounceable hills.

Food report: had a bottle of coconut water/ pineapple juice with a teaspoon of molasses . Breakfasted on egg whites, spirallena and purple cornflour.

  • even the bracken is set up scatter cushion style

  • That Welsh Hill fog can be bad..... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ even indoors....

    Happy hols chaps

  • Coffee needs a dash of cream but other than that, 10 on 10

  • Day two : the ride of Gospel Pass.

Brilliant day in the saddle today. 5o miles , 4,400 ft of climbing. Wales igs truly a beautiful country. Gospel Pass turned out to be worth the ride and rears up above the tree line to be accompanied with high crosswinds. Also found some lovely single track on the return loop.

Tim's Flaura and Fauna Corner: some lovely examples of extreme coppicing out there today.

  • Took a turn into a single track road and was immediately confronted with a 25% sign. Fearlessly we kept going on as we had other less daunting options . Thankfully it turned out to be a 25% descent FTW. Spoke to a horse about how pleased I was about that result

  • I'm not sure there is an easy side to any pass in Wales.

Let me know if you find one though.

  • Extreme coppicing should be A Thing. Like scatter cushions are.

  • Extreme copaceticing.

  • we received and gave back plenty of respect to the driving in this bit of Wales. really considerate on the part of the motorists. might be that they didn't want to upset the cushions they had scattered on their back seats

  • This is jonny's scatter room
