I'd say so, I think there's a lot of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' going on.

It’s a new level of dark for sure.

I think if you genuinely believe that ANTIFA are a threat to national security, which is a line that has been constantly pushed by the right wing media, then this activity seems perfectly acceptable in terms of maintaining safety and security.
It really is 101 in terms of "I didn't speak up when they took away the Jews ... " though

Yeah. I thought the constitution, the most basic-bitch barometer, made it super-easy for americans to understand up from down. Bit I guess... WTF do I know?

Telling that the 2A nuts don't seem to care about a tyranical government when it's the liberals being targetted.
Isnt this the main excuse for these guys to have so many guns?
-
• #9833
Yeah. Federal overreach is usually anathema to the right. ("Tha alphabet boyz")
But really, the hypocrisy should not be a massive surprise. It is their state of being. Such a rich comedic vein to tap.

TBF you do see a few of them in the comments on reddit using the "if they all had guns" line.
I do think that 2A tyranical government argument misses the reality of the world we now live in. Well I saw now, but even if you look at things like the MOVE bombings or the Black Panthers you can see how the state would act in reality.

using the "if they all had guns" line.
I assume that you don't mean "if they all had guns there would be a tragic shoot-out leading to a huge number of unnecesary deaths and no actual postive societal change".

For some comic relief, the various clips floating around of Trump describing how he 'aced' the Montreal test really have me sniggering. They're so fucking funny.

"if they all had guns there would be a tragic shoot-out leading to a huge number of unnecesary deaths and no actual postive societal change".
I took it to how their reasoning is “if we all have gun, we would be able to fight the government if they infringed upon our right”.
Naturally bullshit of course.

That's the thing. These people have watched too many movies and don't think through how human behaviour plays out irl.
Maybe if a group of protestors were armed and these quazi paramilitary police saw that they'd be exposed as the bullies they are and back down.
But my opinion (and experienced of similar personality types) is that these sorts of people are amped as fuck and permanently waiting for it to kick off. They are type who escalate. Which in this hypothetical leads to a massive Waco style shot out not the baddies running away.
And not to be negative about the US, but ime there is a strong culture of obsessing about rep and being disrespected - again that's not a de escalating trait.

In thoery, yes, unless you are a group of right wing armed white men, in which case you can do pretty much anything you want. See:
Oregon's Malheur wildlife rescue takeover
Boogaloo boys

Police in USA cannot back down, it would be seen as a loss of face.
The US police are massively militarised and have armoured vehicles and heavy weapons, and are ready to use them.
-
• #9842
ready to use them
Any excuse usually, it seems

• #9843
ready
Try 'itching', 'gagging' or 'nursing a hard-on the size of Florida'.

The comments are a fascinating insight into the partisanship of the US.
Republicans: this is the reality the MSM isn't showing
Democrats: it's all peacefulRepublicans: only democrat cities
Democrats: under a Trump run USIt's also made me realise that through all of this I haven't (as in me personally) watched any footage from a reliable media source. It's just been linked via here and twitter and filtered through my bias.

I don't think there is any US media source that isn't heavily partisan at this point
Totally. Can america be so polarized that one side can accept this or even encourage it?
