Great job with these! Wish I had some to hand out in Portsmouth tomorrow.
I think I’ve seen more police in Southsea this week, than I have in the past 30 years.

It's comforting to think that the crowd was booing Ivanka and Bolton but the only crowd within the security wall was the press and paps. Most likely baying not booing.

I’m in Portsmouth and I’ve heard from a lot of people over the past two weeks that the police have been knocking doors in the area near the event tomorrow, asking people questions about their plans for the day re the Trump visit etc.
But then tonight I spoke with someone who lives on the seafront, window looks out onto the area that the event is being held tomorrow. And they’ve put her into a hotel for the night so that she’s not in her flat tomorrow!
Who’s paying for that? If they’d have refused is that an enforceable act?

I’m sure she could have stayed home and made cuppas for the sniper.
Cost to the UK of the last visit:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45820394The US pays for hotels. Estimated $3.5m this time. Security costs to the US far, far greater but not
public afaik and that’s probably the budget used for nicing up people whose windows are wanted. -

None of this sounds cheap:

A Presidential visit will always be costly - whether it is a muppet or a normal person. It seems to be the way the Americans do things. On this occasion, Trump is no different to any other president. That’s about the only ‘normal’ thing about his presidency.

As if the gays didn’t hate Trump enough and now he goes for Bette.

Piers Morgan:
"Do you think you're like Churchill?"
Trump:
"He was a great man. People forget, Hitler was going through countries like cheese"

Serious lumps of US military hardware flying back over south Cambridgeshire just now.
Spoilt my listening to TMS in the garden just now, while recabling mini c00ps’ bike. Bastards.

I posted because someone asked, rather than to make a point.
But now you mention it... I think it’s not accurate to characterise this visit as expensive but typical:
The UK cost of Trumps last visit was £18m, US cost ~$40m. This trip is larger and more complex, he has his family and an entourage of 1k.
In contrast (and as Ed said points out) Obama’s 2016 visit was reported as extravagant at the time... but looks quite quaint in comparison. It still managed to bring five delegates. -

Nothing to do with Trump directly, it's a flight of Dakota air transports (along with others) that are doing a fly past for the D-Day anniversary bits.

Trump has suggested to the Taioseach that the brexit border problem can be solved with a wall...
Who does he think are the ones to be kept out?
