"According to the U.S. Department of Education, 54% of U.S. adults 16-74 years old - about 130 million people - lack proficiency in literacy, reading below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level"

I mean till the last sentence there's nothing identifying and therefore libelous surely? Also isn't substack just the next evolution of MySpace/blogs. Hardly Pulitzer level journalism.

“the man who’d occupied the White House little more than one year ago delivered one of the most incendiary and most dangerous speeches in America’s 246-year history. It included an appeal for all-out mayhem in the streets to thwart the U.S. justice system and prevent Trump from going to jail, as the vise tightens from overlapping criminal probes in multiple jurisdictions. And it also featured a stunning campaign promise — that Trump would look to abuse the power of the presidency to pardon those involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection.”

Trump’s accountants Mazar’s have fired him as a client and written a letter telling anyone interested that The Trump Organisations financial statements for the last decade cannot be relied upon.

Great advertising though.

It's hilarious. They did such a bad job cooking the books they don't even buy it. Can't trust em to do your accounts, can't trust them to cook your books.
Wtf are their other clients going to be thinking.

I presume they meant that they worked with information supplied by the Trump organisation, and it turns out they were being supplied with bullshit. None of it should be a surprise - Trump is an American businessman, of course he’s fucking crooked.

Someone pointed out to me tonight that it seemed so strange in 2016 when candidate Trump insisted that the 2016 Republican platform remove defense aid for Ukraine that it barely registered in media consciousness.

On the subject of Trump, VEB bank is about to be sanctioned by the US and EU. VEB were the guys who lent Trump a whole load of money to build his tower in Toronto amongst other things. Does your bank being put on a sanctions list mean you can't pay your mortgage anymore?

From an interview with Eric Trump in 2014
'Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.'
Yes, talking about financing Golf courses. But still.
Lets hope Deutsche Bank have the screws turned on them and see what happens.

If you google "Trump VEB" you will see some articles from 2017 about Toronto tower and a few others I think.
VEB was not state owned when Trump was financed by them. It was nationalised just after iirc. Thinking about it I assume another bank has since bought the debt, perhaps DB.

Trump suggests that the U.S. put Chinese markings on U.S. planes and bomb Russia.
If somebody already posted this in the Ukraine invasion thread, fair enough but I stay out of there because some of the shit people are posting there is only marginally less juvenile than Trump's output.

There seem to be gaps in The White House phone logs from Jan 6th that were released to Congress. Like 7 1/2 hours of a gap.

"They are investigating the possibility the President and aides were using 'burner' phones"
Gee, I hope they were using the cell phones that don't connect to cell towers and stuff
-

Just caught up with the reporting on this.
Trump's current response is: "I don't even know what a burner phone is".
I mean, where do you start with the fact that the former POTUS who received daily security briefings (and still does!) is happy to admit/pretend that he doesn't know what a burner phone is?
Lame duck Presidents can't do anything even if they try - Biden hasn't tried to do a damn thing.
