  • Being honest, I don't see any of that as a huge movement from the position pre-Trump. I don't usually like the "could've been worse" argument. But it really could have been. Of course most of that was probably due to the limitations on Trump's power, but I still don't think that Trump's term has been the game changer others do.

imo the greatest growth of Russian influence was during the Obama administration. Not putting all the blame on him, the UK and EU equally culpable.

  • Everything on the street was on fire," he said. "There were three cars that were fully engulfed."

McCoy said he was originally woken up by what he believed were gunshots about 10 minutes prior to the explosion. He got up and looked out the window, he said, but went back to bed when he didn't see anything.

Asked if the noise he heard could have been something other than gunfire, McCoy emphasized that he believed it was, saying he owns a gun and goes shooting, so he's familiar with the sound of gunshots.

Gunshots are pretty distinct, but not that distinct?

Seems like a premeditated attack including the random shots. Shame 3 people were hurt, although it sounds like the size of the explosion could have done a lot worse damage if the police hadn’t clocked something was suspicious.

  • Trump has a £100m in a PAC. What ever will he do.

“Is he savvy enough as a political operator to use that money to
essentially build a broad coalition in which he is the center and the
doler-out of the money that could strengthen his political position?
It’s hard to say because his political movement so far has been so
    centered around himself,” she said.

“He would have to have an interest in building the Republican party
around Trumpism, which has kind of been happening quite naturally over
the last number of years. But to make that a permanent feature of the
Republican party he would have to then use the political capital that
has built around his name for the benefit of party, which means giving
    it to other candidates.”

Phoned warning and the RV had speakers broadcasting a message telling people to get away from it. Apparently human remains have been found but they're not sure if it's the bomber.

  • RV had speakers

I’d misread the article and thought it was a public announcement system being used by police. I’m lost for words.

  • reports the person who did the bombing was a right wing trump supporting 5g conspiracy theorist, and att was the telecoms company targeted

they'll declare him mentally unstable rather than a white right wing terrorist no doubt

  • He'll get a pardon, obvs...

  • Got a citation? I’m seeing nothing beyond speculation when I look.

  • San Antonio Express article on 2 Nazi POW headstones at fort Sam Houston national cemetery being replaced because they had swastikas on them (separately, it’s weird that iPhone recognises when swastika is misspelled but doesn’t volunteer the correct spelling).

Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, noted that Americans have fiercely debated the status of statues and Army posts named in honor of Confederate leaders. Cuellar said the Nazi symbolism on the headstones at Fort Sam — where World War II veterans rest — was in a different category.

“They’re both offensive, but this one is foreign country, foreign symbol — foreign symbol for a regime that killed so many of our soldiers and caused misery to a lot of families that lost soldiers during World War II,” he said.

    That’s some top-notch mental gymnastics.

  • the site of graves for German prisoners of war Alfred P. Kafka and Georg Forst

    Some might say Kafkaesque...

  • Buried in the defence act that Trump wont sign is legislation that outlaws anonymous shell companies. Just a coincindence.

  • I had a hard time feeling sorry for him after reading his campaign statement was basically ‘fighting with Trump against Nancy Pelosi and her radical socialists’. But he wore masks in about half of his campaign trail pictures so he probably wasn’t the staunchest of COVID deniers. Sad news either way, especially for his children.

  • I didn't investigate his politics. I'm sure there are far worse COVID-19 deniers who have remained perfectly healthy and non-deniers who've died. It's all a bit random, as we know.

  • Certainly. I was just aimlessly pondering whether his death was regrettable / deserved and felt the need to do so on a public forum.

  • aimlessly pondering whether his death was regrettable / deserved

    Republican. Ponder no more.

  • can you make a list of who deserves death? would be handy

  • Lol

    Don't be a dick

  • Why, you planning on doing something about it? Should I put them in order of priority?

  • Everyone deserves the sweet relief of death, timing is the issue.

  • Fuck me, that's like an Adam Curtis fever dream.

  • At least they omitted Cyndi Lauper.
