Impossible for the US either way when you only have two right wing parties to vote for.
-
• #13303
Maybe it’s progress that mainstream right wing today is more progressive than right wing 100/75/50 years ago?

Trump's brand of post truth and his willingness to suggest without saying are making this intresting enough for another politics tab.Hints at assassination are really extreme but it feels like it is becoming a new norm. His supports just shrug it off as a wilful misinterpretation by the Clinton campaign/mainstream media.
Really interesting tho is this building of the idea that if Trump doesn't win then the election is illegitimate. Where are they going with this. Is this as extreme as the Trump team knowing they wont win and looking at other avenues to take power or are they just simply throwing another cat on the table.
Roger Stone, an informal adviser to the Trump campaign, implied last month to internet agitator Milo Yiannopoulos that the notion of discrediting the election as “illegitimate” is part of Trump’s campaign strategy.
“I think we have widespread voter fraud, but the first thing that Trump needs to do is begin talking about it constantly,” Stone said. “He needs to say for example, today would be a perfect example: ‘I am leading in Florida. The polls all show it. If I lose Florida, we will know that there’s voter fraud. If there’s voter fraud, this election will be illegitimate, the election of the winner will be illegitimate, we will have a constitutional crisis, widespread civil disobedience, and the government will no longer be the government.’”
“If you can’t have an honest election, nothing else counts,” Stone continued. “I think he’s gotta put them on notice that their inauguration will be a rhetorical, and when I mean civil disobedience, not violence, but it will be a bloodbath. The government will be shut down if they attempt to steal this and swear Hillary in. No, we will not stand for it. We will not stand for it.”

Its strange, but when i started reading this thread a few weeks ago, i read that and was stunned at how consistant hes been.

Media don't call assholes like Stone and Bannon out on their lies.
Only at the very end of King Trump's reign reporters are finally calling him out.In Canada we have a bunch of Conservative/Republican scumbags who repeat blatant lies over and over. They lie gets disproven, the Con still repeats it. Media repeats the lie without question or fact checking.
This is why people lose faith in politicians and media, the whole bunch are just lazy lying mofos.

Sorry, can't find a link to written articles but on the most recent Q Anon Anonymous podcast there is a clip of a recording with Flynn talking about assembling an army of digital soldiers to challenge the electoral result.
He mainly talks about having them use Twitter more actively, there is nothing in the clip I heard where he encourages actual violence. But then again this is the US and most of those trolls will have easy access to guns. What will they do when they realise their online efforts won't lead to anything?
Not sure we're out of the woods quite yet. -

in the unlikely event that these deluded, lard-arse chuds self organise enough to kick off their laughable boogaloo bullshit, i think we can rest easy knowing that the combined might of the various US law enforcement agencies will shut it down in a matter of minutes.
the bigger concern is the dems doing their "forgive and move on" schtick, because holding people with flat out traitorous opinions that border on outright facism on a good day to account is... hard. These fucks need to be called out, shamed, delegitimised and kept as far away from public office as possible.
make nazis scared again.
otherwise it's this. every fucking time, over and over again.

Every time I dip into the pro-death penalty world I'm surprised by the number of pro death-penalty people who are evangelical christians but believe thall shalt kill.
Surely if killing is wrong, killing is wrong?
-
• #13321
That sounds way too sensible.
-
• #13322
Wait to you hear how they feel about bearing false witness and how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Yeah, but also eye for an eye etc.

Surely if killing is wrong, killing is wrong?
Well there's a whole section of Christian philosophy around the question of when a war is just.

LOL
If that were true, surely we would have reached the point by now that we had no more right wing governments
