Why do the presidential pardons even exist? Seems ripe for a bit of corruption.

True although I'm not so sure the power has been abused much in the past.

Obama was big into pardoning people of reformed character convicted of drug offences facing life in jail.

Wow, just looking through the list of Obama pardons. There as one chap who had been in prison since 1990 for posession of 50 grams of coke and facing at least another 20 inside.

Huff post says Trump is saying Biden needs to prove he has 80mil votes to get into the WH.
And i heard that his grifting campaign since losing, has generated over $170million... Holy fuck. (Its more but i cant remember the actual number. EDIT: found it). But still... Most of that has gone to line his pockets!

Trump definitely breaks the norm, as he always does, with his blatant display of corruption when it comes to his pardoning power. But here’s some other highlights:
September 8th, 1974
Gerald Ford grants an unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon, sparing him from a federal indictment and trial.March 26th, 1981
Ronald Reagan pardons FBI officials Mark Felt (later ID’d as “Deep Throat”) and Edward Miller, who’d authorized break-ins to the homes of radical Vietnam protesters.January 20th, 1989
Reagan pardons Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, who’d pleaded guilty in 1974 to obstruction of justice and contributing illegally to the Nixon campaign.August 15th, 1989
Soon after he donates $100,000 to the Bush-Quayle inauguration fund, oil exec Armand Hammer is pardoned by George H.W. Bush for illegal campaign donations to Nixon.December 24th, 1992
Bush pardons six men in the Iran-Contra affair, including Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, in a possible bid to cover up his own alleged involvement.January 20th, 2001
On his last day in office, Bill Clinton pardons his brother, Roger, for a drug charge, as well as kidnapped heiress and onetime bank robber Patty Hearst, and Susan McDougal, who was jailed for refusing to testify in the Clintons’ Whitewater scandal.Clinton also pardons “fugitive financier” Marc Rich, ex-husband of a big Clinton fundraiser, wanted for evading $48 million in taxes and illegal oil trading with Iran.

George W. Bush commutes the sentences of two border patrol agents who shot a fleeing, unarmed man. -

Barack Obama, whom Mr Trump replaced in 2017, granted 212 pardons and 1,715 commutations - the most since President Harry Truman in the 1940s and 1950s.
President Trump, by contrast, had granted just 28 pardons and 16 commutations as of late November.

I get the idea Trump generally couldn't be bothered with Pardoning/commuting people who actually deserved it, and generally only does so when there is something in it for him.

Not seen a ROFLCOPTER for yonks

Yup, not suprised that Trump isn't interested in making a gesture towards the need for sentencing reform! Epsecially not of people who aren't rich and white.

Trump generally couldn't be bothered
Sounds like a common theme... Actually, that's probably about right. Actioning a pardon would mean reading some case notes or a brief, something he isn't exactly partial to.

Paul Pogue sticks out a bit.
He should pardon all the Pogues, including Mahone.

Really hoping this one sticks.
Yeah, let's hope for no more reposts. We've had enough.

Soon after he donates $100,000 to the Bush-Quayle inauguration fund, oil exec Armand Hammer is pardoned by George H.W. Bush for illegal campaign donations to Nixon.
Interestingly:
In the 1980s Hammer owned a considerable amount of stock in .... the company that manufactures Arm & Hammer products; he also served on its board of directors. However, the Arm & Hammer company's brand name did not originate with Armand Hammer. It was in use 31 years before Hammer was born. He was spurred to buy shares in the company as a result of often being asked about the brand being so close to his name.
Also the great-grandfather of Armie Hammer, who played both Winklevii in The Social Network.

There are videos doing the rounds of one of Guliani's voter fraud witnesses testifying in a senate or congress hearing. Very likely she added a little Dutch courage before taking the stand. So fucking funny.
EDIT: or maybe it's a state legislature?

Kinda feel there’s an adult safeguarding issue there. She’s either corrupt and dgaf, or, I don’t know, she doesn’t come across as 100% well.

What does she say when it sounds like 'if some chow shows up'? Is 'chow' an insult for Chinese people? I found this, which makes it seem as if it could be:

I've never heard the term before, though.

I like the suggestion that the election was rigged via the Dems getting Chinese people to pretend to be different Chinese people.
