My guess is the latter. In the last day or so he confirmed negative tests. I would bet the entire republican leadership would think Pence is a better bet than Trump for the election at the moment.

We've started to see various senior republicans mildy distance themselves from Trump too.

As Seth Abramson noted the other day ( I know he's a grifter but he's sometimes right), these guys have been supporting Trump blindly for 4+ years so can't just suddenly denounce him. The distancing must be gradual.

In a nutshell, the official story is that Jill met Joe Biden on a blind date shortly after her divorce was finalised.

In September, her ex husband turned up on Breitbart and in the Daily Mail claiming that they had an affair while still married and that he has a book coming out in November telling his side of the story.

Thats pretty much all the info there is available.

EDIT: Correction, Jill separated from her husband in 1974, met Joe in March 1975 while the divorce was ongoing and the divorce finalised in May 1975. Doesn't really seem that gossip worthy to me.
