I reckon a username change to 'handballclub' is called for.

Not sure how we measure up against the Romans or Mongols, though...

That's nothing, the jolly old Empire looks on course to win 100% of the medals at the next Commonwealth Games. Makes you proud to be British.

Count it up - the CCCP won, as it did last time.

Nice one to Jason Kenny but he's the kind of person I don't want to be this successful, he's a machine, but no hero

He's the hero you deserve, but not the one you need right now

Good piece pointing out how the Olympics looks to serve Olympic officials and in some cases leaves athletes out in the cold

If you want to keep the yoofs interested than you'll have to include them. Great sport and will add in terms of exposure to the games.
I'm biased but surfing and skating are solid additions to the roster and karate, although it's quite niche, is a big deal for Japan so interest should be high.Still no place for squash which is a bit shit.
Golf can >>>>>

I think it's a pretty good idea to include golf, one of the most watched and played sports into the world, in the Olympics.

I'm calling BS. 99% of the global population can't even afford to play it. There must be 15 sports ahead in the queue. It's definitely got a big share of the retired daytime TV audience but it's appeal is rather limited on a global scale.

costs less to get onto a municipal golf course than it does the velodrome...
jus' sayin'

Yup. Cost of entry to golf is actually surprisingly low. You don't even need to buy golf clubs or adhere to a dress code as many local courses are pretty welcoming and inclusive now days.
I know a few peoole who are learning golf at the moment. Group lessons make it even cheaper.

Just did a bit of googling. A few sources suggest that around 60 million people play golf at least once a year across the globe.
I don't know think that many people watch golf regularly in the UK. About 1.5m people watched each British open highlight show on the BBC last year. I assume the Ryder cup or the masters get bigger figures.
Would like to slap the person at the BBC who thinks Eddie Butler is some sort of poet.
