One of the BBC presenters said 13th last night, if I remember rightly.

It would be nice if they ended up with more than Kennya and Trottswana.

This from a Brit.

I always look for their results first. In the Olympics Australia are the one county I get the most pleasure when GB finish above them. I don't even like cricket but love it when we win the Ashes as it annoys the Aussies so much.

Ta, you proved my point. hippy is always right.
It's the same for us. I was brought up such that anyone other than Britain winning is good. Except maybe NZ :P I can't really explain it, it's not seriously malicious or anything it's just like Melbourne is better than Sydney. It's just one of those things.

Its all about the Bantz, I always look at it like sibling rivalry. Occasionally it gets a little shouty, like around the 2003 Egg-Chasing Cup or any Ashes ever, but mostly its good natured, lets-share-a-beer after and laugh about it.
But its very important to beat the Aussies, anything to shut them up for even briefest second.

Looking forward to the BMX racing tomorrow and the womens volley today brasil vs china was superb, neither team deserved to go out

The Aussies are the only sporting teams I generally want to see lose (apart from England), generally because they are pretty odious. But then you get people like Adam Gilchrist, Peter Siddle and David Pocock who spoil it by being thoroughly decent individuals.

Just had two non-cycling colleagues having an in depth discussion of the keirin and Laura Trott's awesomeness last night and trying to get me involved, at which point I admitted I hadn't seen any of it and they looked at me like I was some kind of crazy man who hates Britain.

Did GB not enter any riders in the BMX?
-

Edit: I may be wrong

Liam Phillips is in isn't he?
-

Liam Phillips and Kyle Evans, but no women riders.

So I know Kenny et al put out teh awesome powers, but what the point of $2000 superlight shoes with all the aeros when he then has to use velcro straps as well. Can't they just fix the shoe to the pedals permanently instead? Marginal gains and all that. Or better still develop an integrated shoedal (tm)? Or is that illegal.

didn't realise he had been snubbed for the worlds as well that is well shite. BMX is well down the pecking order on BC list :(
-
• #596
Reading between the lines, I would say there are a lot of BC people who hate the fact that BMX is now an officially sanctioned (and supported) sport, especially since velodrome events were dropped in order accommodate the BMX racing.

hmmm, and having read that ride article, thanks for the link, sounds like they need someone to stand up to thems in charge to fight the corner for the future.

The AIBA have confirmed they've had officiating problems in the boxing and have sent home the referees and judges involved. The dodgy results will still stand though.
