Now playing the waiting game until the linseed oil stops being all runny. About a week. Enough time to gather the final parts, but annoyingly we're going on holiday for a few weeks after that so this might be put on hold until late august...

Had a go at fitting the bb and chain guard. Got it off some local forum member but turned out to be for 48t chainring which looked weird with the 42 I had. Cue careful bending of guard.

After much swearing, sawing and filing as well as spacing out the DS bb cup by a couple of mms I got everything to fit snugly. The middle mixte stay got in the way at the rear. Pity my wife's not called "Ange" or it would have looked very custom made.

Back in the workshop. Wheels needed a bit more work before I was happy with them. Mounted tyres and luckily everything fits, was worried about clearing the nds mixte stay but there's plenty of room. Sorry for blurry pic.

Mounted guards next. One of these days I'll look Monsieur Berthoud up and punch him in the scrotum. Getting the guards on never gets easier, this is probably the fifth pair I've done. They last forever though.

Quick mock-up. Don't look at the mudguard stays. They're fine. Not bothering me at all.

Found an old french front rack. Much bending, very hammer. Also mr hacksaw and mrs file. Finally the front light I had from the previous build fit.

And the best part? That both the nexus hub and the dynohub performed perfectly! Was expecting at least one of them to explode instantly.

Nice work! Does the mixte frame design add much stiffness for the weight? My lady is starting to complain about her gaspipe Dawes and I'm thinking a nice mixte build similar to yours could be the answer.

Lovely job mate. 5 stars for servicing the hub gear!
Talk to me about brake reach ... what's the difference in brake surface position betwixt 700 and 650b? I'm wondering if I could convert my tourer beast without moving canti mounts, since on the brakes I'm using the blocks are right up the top of the mount ...

I've no idea, really. This is not a stiff frame, that's for sure.

19mm ... thanks!
Of course, subtract the actual rim diameters ... duh.
offset pad holders
These might be my saviours, do they even exist?!

Thanks guys. Hopefully she'll enjoy riding it!
@Skülly , @TheShipwright has the answer. Sheldon has a good page about rim & tyre diameters.
Edit- too slow

Thanks again. She took it for a spin after work and came back making various delighted sounds, so a great result I think.
We should all be so lucky.
