Try the evo pads, having spare brake pads isnt a bad thing.
Also worth noting that even if your wheels are even a millimetre out of true they will rub.
Please dont arrive at the conclusion that discs are better because of this. I actually did the opposite of this, went from disc to caliper to mini v to cantis. I think I'll go centre pull next; which is what you should've done maybe.

no real problems with the brakes tbh I'm loving them, the arms are just further away coz of width of the wheel, they're not rubbing at all and the amount of pull on the lever is good enough, just a bit spongy coz of the flex in the rear triangle. no chance ill be changing to disc or canti, only change will be back to brakeless fixed. i think ill try the new pads to see if they're are thinner and setup nicer than the stock pads, I'm just struggling with pad position not having the spacers to adjust the angle of the pad so they're set slightly further apart than they should be no doubt to account for no toe in adjustment

Brake will always feel sloppy with mini v anyway, nothing to do with the rear triangle, if you want to make it less sloppier and have more clearance, fit some compressionless housing.
If you want a sharp bite, go for cantilevers.

They seem to be sharp enough when riding, commute was wet today so brakes was a bonus. Few minor adjustments moving the levers closer to bars tonight, ill try the evo pads and see how i get on, pay day next week

Hey, I'm setting about a similar conversion to my fixed bike. Same removable bosses and TRP cx 8.4s. The bosses are brazed on but the brass seat on the brakes sit ~2mm away from the shoulder on the boss instead of being flush. Did you run into this problem? Any tips on solving it?
Cheers

Not a huge deal IMO.

The TRP arms rotate around the brass bushing. As it is the bushing is locked down but without the base contacting the shoulder and compressing the whole system it allows the arms to wobble a fair bit...

weird .. when I had 8.4s there was a bit of a gap (maybe less than what you have) but they worked fine.

Yeah, very. It seems the recessed section in the brass bushing is too short for to the lip on the boss. Hmm, I'm stumped
brakes didn't really seem much different, slightly harder to setup as the spacers ball and socket system help with toe in so lever pull is a bit sloppier. Hoping once pads wear in setup will be easier
